Default Serious Question about CARDIO machines........

My good friends I have a serious question about Cardio Machines. I do MAD cardio as part of my routine work out. But since I am up here in wack asss RAINING 24-7 NorthWest for business for a great deal of the year my cardio workouts are often confined to Cardio Machines as opposed to the conventional jogging outside up and down the trails which I do prefer. Recently one of my business partners told me she read in the newspaper recently that alot of the cardio machines(treadmills, elipticals, etc) are highly radioactive and expose the people who run on it to a great deal of radiation and they are now saying it is causing cancer

Now this business partner of mine is very intelligent, credible, wise etc so when she warns me about something I often listen to her verbatim. She is almost like a 2nd mom to me.

So heres the question and its a serious one so please only serious feedback: Have any of you heard this as well about the radiation from the cardio machines causing cancer and doctors are now warning people to stay off them? Because I've been doing a great deal of research and I havent found anything yet?
    What have you guys heard?

Please let me know my friends! Thank you GOD BLESS!!!!

I've never heard of this and can't really see what is radioactive about these machines?

They are just mechanical... not like a Microwave or a phone.

What type of machines are we talking here? If it really worries you there are powerless ones you can use... rowing machines and running machines that offer either wind or magnetic resistance.

I don't use any machines, just a heavy bag, the ring and the pavement so I don't have a huge amount of knowlodge on this but unless your tread mill is being powered by plutonium I can't see why this would be the case...

Don't take my word for it though, you should ask your freind where she heard this and if she knows why.

I agree with Adam on all accounts.

As far as highly radioactive is concerned try and get the use of a geiger counter from a college or uni and test the machines yourself. I'd be surprised if an electric motor and lcd interface is radioactive enough to cause any symptoms.

Interesting but not plausable I would think, but been testing these cardio machines myself and found unusual things happening with the machines mechanics. But more importantly they are not very good for Human Biomechanics, they give false movement to joints and muscle groups. Which will give long term problems if used constantly.

yeah man i love jogging on pavement and up and down the trails opposed to on a cardio machine, but since it rains here 24-7 i cant do that. see im a cardio nut. so if i hit the cardio machines id def be on there for like a hour a day atleast man to make up for not being able to jog on the trails etc.

interesting bro. but i would think for someone with bad joints or bad knees etc like me it would be an advantage and less painful and damaging to run on an eliptical machine because of the same reasons?

but in terms of radioactive activity, radiation etc did your studies confirm anything?

Nothing in those terms pfor p, but electric arcs yes when first found they interested me. I dont think people realise just how much damage running machines do to motorization of the hips and adductor muscles. People use them to rehab but they do more harm to the running gaite which long term causes more damage anyway thats my 2 cents

joint damage is used long term sounds very possible and probably true but getting cancer from using them..... You have a high chance of getting cancer while you're alive on top of many other things. I doubt they increase you chances at all.

I think every one worries about these things to much now days... remember when you where a kid?

Toys weren't made out of plastic that gave you cancer and your TV wasn't going to give you a brain tumour... I wouldn;t worry about it... the sun increases your risk of skin cancer but I'm not gonna hide from it...

yeah i feel ya bro, but cardio is one thing i do obsessively within my workouts like b-hop style. so doing something so obsessively to the max, is a lil different then playing with a transformer once in awhile that may be rumored to give a kid cancer haahha. i wouldnt even have this problem if i wasnt doing business up in the city thats known for its fukkkkkkin RAIN! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGH!
