    Default Gloves and Handwraps

Had a few questions about handwraps and gloves. I've been looking into buying a pair of Cleto Reyes gloves. Whats the difference between their training gloves and pro gloves? Also, whats the difference between regular handwraps and mexican style handwraps?

    Alright mate

I think your referring to the difference between the reyes training gloves and the competition gloves. Ive had a look quick look and i think its really only that the pro competition gloves only come in 8oz or 10oz whereas the sparring gloves obviosuly go upto 18oz. Not sure what you want them for but generally speaking 16oz are the best for sparring use.

Im not really sure, and im sure the other guys on here will be able to tell you better, but i think mexican style wraps are just a different type of weave with the material. Also mexican wraps are usually slightly stretchy although standard woven handwraps can be stretchy also. Dont think it matters really its personal preferance i guess, definately go for a slightly stretchy wrap though otherwise when you make a fist theyll bunch much more and rip you knuckles up. If it helps i use these for training and they are the dogs danglies.

Hope that helps a little bit and that's the info you were looking for. If im wrong about the wraps someone please correct me.

    Cheers

The problem most of the time with handwraps is they are put on wrong. wraps should protect wrist, thumb and knuckles with very little on the plamn of the hand to stop you making a proper fist, therefore damaging the metacapuls. Take great care of the hands without them youve lost.

I wouldnt suggest getting cleto reyes at your level. Youve only just started, why waste your money on the best in the market when something a LOT cheaper will do.

And i was always under the impression that mexican were stretchy and regular were not.

I used to use the same as best of british until i started using BBE 4m, which i find the extra 0.5m helpful.
