this aint exactly an easy sport alot of times recovery time is needed. once a week is to much unless there all first round knockouts. and as for the big names that used to fight evry three months or sooner back in the day, todays guys make a hell of alot more money then they did so why fight more than 3 times a year

Well the don't pay attention to the fundamentals of the sport like defense and hitting and not being hit.....also health care has a lot to do with it.

Prospects and Journeymen fight more often because they need to establish themselves or try and make money and even then most boxers have a day job.

Champions and Contenders don't fight as often because it's higher risk in regards to career

Hey if you don't have then why bother? Suck up the money from ignorant wretches like us then retire!!!!!

All kidding aside IMO breaks between fights make for better fights...This way a fighter is 100% healthy...Plus it is a dangerous sport and if you dont need to take the risk then why should you....I don't know if you know any genuinely puchy fighters but I do and it is not a pretty thing!!!....you have a long time left after boxing and you don't want to go through it suffering the ill effects from the ring...Money to burn or not....A big reason why fights are only 12rds and not 15.....I do however think a champion should fight no less than 3 times a year maybe 4 at most...but every few weeks is just not neccessary....

Agreed. I got no problem putting another diamond in one of Floyd's watches...just as long as I know I aint paying to gloss up Judah's grill...it's all cool in the gang for Wacko.

From what I hear its because as a young fighter they do fight as often as before, but as soon as fighters get super star acclaim the HBO network has to work them into its busy schedule which has openings for them every 2-3 months... Hatton is having a problem with this because he needs to feel 4-5 times a year to allow him to stay at 140.

I'm glad they don't to be honest. I would be seriously skint and owing a shitload to my bank.
