Hey I Got A Speaker box that holds 2 twelves but replaced the worthless twelves with one good twelve can i make this box ported by just making a port hole?

or do i actually have to buy a ported box

I have an engineering degree.
Determining the port tube diameter and length for a sub box is very complicated.
You can replace the 2 12' speakers with home audio stlye 12"bass speakers. If you wire them in parellel it will reduce the ohms say from 8 ohms to 4 they are cheaper and sound great. ive seen it done with radio shack speakers
If you want to use one 12 make a new sealed front plate then you can experiment with different port sizes and lengths,
do do it right you need a good sub cross over rolled at say 80-100 htz with a roll off rate of 12-18 db per octave.
then a specrum anaylser will help to tune the sub in the car.
Hope that helps If not just memorize what i said and repeat it at stereo shops and they will think your a whiz.

If you liekmusic then you want to hear the song created by the artist as accuratly as possible.
Bands spend millions in studios to "tune" the song to soujnd teh way they want it.
Would you go to an art studio wearing red tinted sunglasses?
view the Mona lisa etc like that?
Same for music IMO
If all you want to hear is a distorted BOOM BOOM to show off, just get a buddy to stick a bass drum over your head and pound it every 1/2 second while you listen to your favorite tunes

lol why would i spend so much money on a system to listen to music normaly i could do that with normal speakers i paid money for my system because i love bass and the only thing that has good bass is rap so i dont care if icant here the words because they have retarted lyrics but with rock songs i usually turn down the Subwoofer Level Control so less bass but still bass

actually my system sucks but its good enouph for me

i have a 1200 watt monoblock amp hooked up to a 1200 watt Xplod and a 500x2 watt hooked up to two 500 Watt visoniks WHICH SUCK!!!!!!! DONT EVER BUY THEM
i bought the ones that came with the amp and the box and they dont hit very hard at all
but differant peopel have differant preferances
