    Default Strange James Toney Article

This guy is really off base with this article. He makes a real outlandish argument that a
born fighter can get off the couch and beat most of the best. Absolutely RIDICULOUS That's like saying an
accomplished musician really doesn't have to put in a lot of work to be what they are.
This essentially translates to innate skills RULE, and environmental factors, such as cultivating those skills, really doesn't
play too much of a role. Don't understand where this guy is coming from at all

In boxing that can't possibly be tru because unless you can guarantee'd drop somebody in 5 punches or less you need stamina to stay in the ring. In a street fight thats completely different. I've seen guys that were in shape be completely manhandled by someone that was just tougher but in horrible shape.

this is not true. i'll tell you why. 5yrs ago i was 21 yrs old and feeling pretty bad ass. bounced around the bar scenes for a while, got in some fights and always kicked the other guys ass. ive been raised watching boxing since i was 5 and know how to throw a good punch. ive also been clocked a few times in the jaw and always won the fight after that. sooooo....... thinking i had the puch and chin of a fighter i entered a local boxing tourny. its was basically a toughman thing, you fought three 2 minute rounds. i figured this was gonna be some real fun. im 5/9 210lbs. so i go with my buddy (who was also supposed to sign up to fight but he bitched out when we got there) and sign in. about a half hour later i hear im fighting a 38yr school teacher. my fight was down the list so i had alot of time to kill which i did by having a cheeseburger and 3 heinekens, and about 5 ciggarettes. so to make a already too long story shorter before the bell for rd 3 i could breath to the point of my lungs felt like they where on fire! the 38yr old school teacher worked out 5 times a week and was in great shape.
so after that i knew i might be able to kick ass at a bar for 30 seconds but even two minute rds where too much for me. conditioning is the most important aspect if you want to be a seriouse contender. i might have the puch and maybe the chin but if you cant breath you cant win!

in closing shannon briggs wont be around to much longer

That article is right in some parts wrong in most....

YES..James toney is naturally skilled and doesnt need to train to whip half the guys out there...
Hes out of shape and far away from his natural wieght of middleweight and still unarguably one of the best out there..Because that is exactly how insanely deep his talents lie...

On the other hand..The whole shot thing..No..
Toney is not shot..He is ' unshootable' Because the entire second half of his career has relied on nothing more then an iron chin and the skill he will always own..
James can lie on the ropes and pick his shots and still win rounds at this age.. and he can still dodge those shots and counter ever so well...

On the other hand..Granted.. Fighters like Roy..Who made a bad move of becoming wieght drained at too late a stage in his career and didnt seem to have the same reflexes as he once did ..He's a man that was shootable..Some say roy lost his chin..No roy never got hit before..How you know he had a chin..Roy lost his reflexes and we saw him actually get hit..
Not saying he is glass jawed atall..But for one..Tarver threw a blond shot..
And if you seen the johnson fight the punch didnt knock him out the way he banged his head on the canvas did..That was seriously painful to watch...
And also people like pac in a few years cant hang around too long because his style is all about bieng a puncher and having that spark in his work to have the energy to jump in and throw hard strait shots and awkward shots.. But he wont always be prime..

Point bieng James is far too tough and far too skilled to be held down..or be shot..
He will probably fight till he dies..Because he can..
Kinda like Duran..Its what they do..What they know..

Toney is 1-2-1 in his last 4 fights, and that's not up against stellar competition. For a guy who can just get off the couch and beat most, it seems a bit strange
that the record doesn't indicate that. Sure, Toney is an amazingly skilled and gifted boxer, but the idea that he can essentially flip-off mother nature and not
have to train like the rest of the pack makes me wonder what this guy was thinking when he put together this 'article'.

    Lol..
I dont know my brother..I mean ... For fairness..The competition he has faced is truely great..
But these guys dont get the credit they deserve..
Because they either were a little too old, not big a named..Blindly ko'd a fan favourite, or is just a penis and clinches too much..
Obviously holyfield was 41..Amzing man still.. And it makes it all the more impressive that he.. a former middleweight king..Stopped evander holyfield who had only previously been stopped by moorer.. A true heavyweight who was no light hitter.
Guinn and booker..As long as he won, We'll allow it.
Rahman..Still among the top names in all fairness..He was the champ and all considered..what with toney coming in looking like puff n fresh.. i feel he got the win, As of now.. In the shape he was in last fight, toney ud's rahman no question...He won most of the rounds by sitting on the ropes and showing rahman what james toney does..But he let a fair few slip simply cos he wasnt busy enough due to his size.
Ruiz...A real annoying bloke, not good to watch..But lets be fair..Ruiz has beaten some names no doubt.. he aint pretty or entertaining..But he can fight, again..Toney defeats himself because of missuse of illegal substance..
peter I..Toney could have fought better i feel cos he wasnt in shape..But i still feel he won..
Second fight..Wasnt half as bad as everyone thinks..But sam was the better man that night..
But im bieng real with my statements here..James will fight and has fought all the big names he could..
He isnt afraid of anything..And those are big bad fighters..No doubt!
    Peace
