Default Does Kosta Tszyu's record stand up against the greats?

We all know how accomplished he was/is as a fighter, but does his record hold up under scrutiny, when talking about the very best 140pounders in history.

Biggest wins are arguably, Zab (and fair play for that) and JCC (Who was a shadow)

I don't remember any other really big names on his resume - and obviously the manner of the 2 defeats hurts his legacy

I know you can pick holes in anybodies record, I just don't see many superfights on his ticket.

I think the people that remember him will give him the correct props..But those that only have a record to look at cant give him them in the same way...

His record doesnt do him justice for how good and solid a fighter he is... We all know he could well have had more superfights.. and although he didnt we know he could have..
But he may well drift away as far as the future is concerned and people not knowing of him..

Yeh I agree - it's the same when people look at Duran's first 70 fights and pick holes, becuase they have only seen it on paper and not the fights themselves

I reckon all three of those guys are better fighters than Zab Judah. The Chavez fight doesn't even get a mention IMO - he was too old.

Rodriguez, Pineda, Ruelas - all world class fighters.

For 10 yrs he pretty much beat everybody out there at 140.

I think Tszyu will go down as one of the 140lb divisions best of all time maybe the best...His record is deciving though......

Kostya was a great fighter, he had amazing accuracy with his power punches, my biggest problem with him though is that he wasn't active enough, he had long periods of inactivity and had many years where he only fought once in that entire year. His skill was great, but activity is a huge factor on how I rate fighters.

See the thing is, i know nothing about 80% of those fighters.
Im assuming that in 20 years time, more and more of the future boxing fans will be just as ignorant as me, hence like BHB says, in time, Tszyu's achievments may simply diminish into little more than an inactive hard hitter in a weak division... It definately would be sad to see his loss to Hatton emerge as the highlight of his brilliant career.

For reasons stated i cant really comment on Tszyu's carrer... But im all ears eyes

I beleive his amatuer career was to long, he lost a lot of his peak years because of it and basing himself in Australia He was a great fighter that should have done more.

Honestly...I aint that big on Kostya.

He's a good fighter...but in the grand scheme of things...he's just a minnow that barely makes a splash in a much bigger pond.

Cotto, IWO, is a much superior fighter with a hell of a lot better record.
