    Default To all Kessler fans

I found this on Calzaghe's website. I did not know he had a website or a forum. I thought it was a pretty funny article. I don't remember ever seeing it here, so forgive me if it is a repost. BTW, it is an old article but it is the most recent one on his news section.

    To all Kessler fans
    Date posted: 28/11/2006 08:12:50

Over the past few weeks I’ve noticed an increasing number of Kessler fans posting critical comments of Joe Calzaghe in the Forum.

I understand and sympathise with your frustration that Mikkel Kessler will not be given the opportunity to box a true champion but Kessler has little to offer in contrast to the American greats.

Kessler hasn’t boxed anyone of particularly good stature, is practically unknown in the United States of America and has a small following of fans.

It is Joe Calzaghe’s objective to win over his American audience and defeat globally recognised boxers like Manfredo, Taylor and Hopkins. Once Joe Calzaghe has achieved these objectives he will then consider taking Kessler’s supermiddle weight titles. With a monolithic following of Americans and Britons the Calzaghe v Kessler fight would then gain an audience of monumental proportions but until then Kessler will have to wait.

If you wish to comment on this article please go to the forum and look for the subject, “Calzaghe snubs Kessler”.

I can just imagine all the shiet the MK fans are saying.

Kessler's next competition will bring him more credibility in the hardcore boxing community.

While Calzaghe is targeting, the American audiences that will say "Manfredo? I've heard that name before, who is he?"

If Kessler does in fact beat Andrade, I think it will open more doors for him, than what this will do for Calzaghe. I understand the theory beat up some one that Americans have heard of to get bigger fights.
But in all honesty, Why would Jermain Taylor fight him? Cause damn he took out Manfredo.
Or Hopkins, why would this help him get a fight with Hopkins? I'll stay unretired after beating the #3 p4p fighter in the world to take on that guy that beat Manfredo.

Kessler is working this smarter IMO, more long term, but smarter.

The Super Middleweight division is rapidly becoming a joke unfortunately

Look at the Ring's top 10 super middleweights

    C C 508 JOE CALZAGHE 42-0 (31)
    1 1 113 MIKKEL KESSLER 38-0 (29)

    2 2 228 ANTHONY MUNDINE 27-3 (21)
    3 3 114 JEFF LACY 22-1 (17)
    4 4 226 MARKUS BEYER 34-2-1 (13)
    5 5 85 LIBRADO ANDRADE 24-0 (1
    6 6 43 LUCIAN BUTE 18-0 (16)
    7 7 34 CARL FROCH 20-0 (16)
    8 8 21 ALLAN GREEN 22-0 (15)
    9 9 16 DENIS INKIN 29-0 (22)

    10 10 16 PETER MANFREDO JR. 26-3 (12)

7 guys that are undefeated, that's ridiculous.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

I would find it difficult to begruge JC if after the Manfredo fight,he fights B Hop. If it's anyone of a lesser caliber,I will not be pleased and it will CERTAINLY look as if he is ducking Mikkel.

Well said. There is really no excuse for Calzaghe fighting Manfredo

'Viking Warrior' fan here hes been my boy long before this whole Joe C. - Kessler talks, the first Kessler fight I saw was when he beat Porras.
Became a fan right away, I came on here and about a year later no one believed me that Kessler was gonna be a champ. now here we are the problem here is that the 'so' called SMW champ. thinks by fighting a 'reality tv star' hes gonna get cred. from the states ha!! we're laughing over here... Mora beat him twice, and a natural Welterweight Alfonso Gomez took kicked his ass for 5 rounds.... A lot of people forget that or just look over it but I don't..... Joe C. beating Peter does nothing for him as far as cred. here in the states if, but I'll tell you what it has done it's shown us hes more interested in breaking a record then really proving hes a great champ......

Then fans & fighters themselves wonder why they are not highly ranked amongst the rest.....

Look at these fighters with just 20 something fights ready to take on the challenge I sware anyone but Peter hes not a natural SMW hes way over his head and the answe is he was the easiest target available for Joe C. without getting too ridiculous and even then IMO it's borderline ridiculous.....

    JOE CALZAGHE 42-0
    MIKKEL KESSLER 38-0
    ANTHONY MUNDINE 27-3
    JEFF LACY 22-1
    MARKUS BEYER 34-2-1
    LIBRADO ANDRADE 24-0
    LUCIAN BUTE 18-0
    CARL FROCH 20-0
    ALLAN GREEN 22-0
    DENIS INKIN 29-0
    PETER MANFREDO JR. 26-3

I don't see any reason to consider Kessler having a better shot vs Calzaghe than Lacy did. I mean what does it matter if you've had 1 fight or 50 fights vs so-so competition, fact is you can't compare it to fighting a great fighter.

Kessler may end up being a great fighter but he damn sure hasn't taken any risk to get to where he is right now.

well he had the balls to leave his town and go to Australia to fight....
Something Joe C. hasn't and more then likely won't do.....
Lacy had the balls to go over there and fight him.....

The offer was there for Joe C. he didn't take it instaed his fighting a 'Reality TV star'

and if it's that easy of a win for Joe C. then he shouldn't have a problem fighting him once hes done with Peter '15 minutes of fame' Manfredo.

Well as the old saying goes "to be the man you have to beat the man" and recenbtly more often than not you have to meet the demands of "the man" in order to get your shot.....hey if you can beat a guy you should be able to beat him in America, England, Australia, Germany, Russia, Antartica, and the surface of the moon!!!!!

The place doesn't change much about the fight...who gives a fuck if the fans are booing or if the fans are cheering? Marvin Hagler whipped Alan Minter's ass and got booed.....it didn't keep him from winning the title though

The supermiddles is a quality division at the moment !!!

Joe is the champ but i'd love to see him mingle with Kessler , Mikkel is a hard hitter with good boxing pedigree he's beatn former champs fringe contenders in good fashion !

You've also got some hot dogs bubbling just beneath the surface such as Andrade , Froch , Green , Bute and Inkin !

All these fighters had stellar amatuer records and all have beaten good men as pros !!

The only fighter i'm yet to see in the flesh is Andrade but i hear good things !!

Froch has shown some glimpes against fringe contenders , Bute battered Kabary Salem , Green versus Miranada will be a beauty and shows Green has belief and ambiton whilst Inkin has been talkied about for a while .

Fighters who have gone just off the radar but who i'd still pay to watch include Mkerchian , Markusson and Mads Larsen .

Joes fight against Manfredo is a good match for him !! I think Joes blasts him out in 2 rounds gets everybodys attention .

Seems to me Lyle has a real hard time admitting to himself that deep down he loves Kessler.
But this, I believe, is the closest he's come to aknowledging it yet.

Way to go Lyle - You'll get there eventually
