for certain cases i can understand them...
Like when a fighter is banged up in jail and MAY not be out in time, hasn't had a trial.. so they let the No 1 and 2 fight to get the interim, if the champs is able to fight they fight for the title, if not the interim champ becomes the champ...
for times then there is no reason why the champ can't defend his title, then its just bullshit

This rule is NOT always implied as in the case of Arce when he was the Interim Champ..... Thanks WBC great job on that one....
