If Mormeck comes better conditioned in this fight then last time I think he got a pretty good chance...
I mean at least it seemed to me that he an out of steam pretty fast or maybe he overpaced I don't
know for sure...

I'm a real big Mormeck fan, one of my favorite fighters in all of boxing. But he just seemed to lose his luster last fight. He became stationary. His whole game is based on giving angles. When he was moving he was winning the fight. Why he brought it to the ropes I'll never know. It made for a hell of an exciting fight but it wasn't smart. I don't know if it was Bell's power that took it out of him or if he was just not conditioned well enough. I'm banking on the latter and a Mormeck decision victory. Mormeck is small but he's the class of the division imo.

Me too, man. I wish this was on the HBO PPV. Hopefully it will find it's way to YouTube.
I agree Mormeck is an exciting fighter. I would like to see him do well !Originally Posted by BoxingGorilla

Yeah Mormeck is definitely one of my favorites. Just watched the first fight for the first time in a few months. Mormeck did a few things wrong imo.
The big thing was that he waited until he got to the inside before he threw. But on the inside he usually fired to long with the left hand. Almost everytime he had success with his lead punch was when there was distance between the two. Whether it was Bell backing up or Mormeck coming forward, he found sucess from the outside moving forward and it usually came in the form of the left hook. But what Mormeck fell into doing was waiting to long to throw the left and then he would be on the inside where his only real work was to the body or to the body. He did good with the uppercuts too but again, that was usually set up by the left hook. So I really think that he needs to fire off from the outside especially with the left hook instead of moving in with his hands on his ears.
He also kept his head down on the inside when he didn't really need to and it looked like it affected his accuracy and shot selection. When he went to the body he was good with the head down but when he was looking forward he did a good job with the straight right hand which was underutilized in the first bout and will be a key in the second. Head up on the inside for Mormeck, also has to create a bit of space for the right hand.
Last thing, again pertaining to fighting on the inside but he has got to be more active. Even if it's just shoeshining or body work, Bell goes into a shell when he is being pressured with punches and that actually creates more openings in his defense. He's very venerable when he's being pressured but for whatever reason Mormeck did not take advantage of tthat. It also prevents Bell from leaning on Mormeck where you can see as early as round 3, really wore him out.
Basically, I believe that if Mormeck fights from the outside in rather then inside out and then stays busy on the inside with ample spacing for his punches then he takes the fight before it goes to the cards. Not the easiest thing in the world to do but the fight is there for Mormeck he just has to take it.
And I agree with you completely BG, luckily though it is being broadcast in France so I'm sure it'll pop up soon enough. If Valero - Mosquera hit the internet then this will. And I can't wait for it.
I'm with you Gamo. I think Bell is going to stop him even earlier. I like Bell. He's fun to watch.Originally Posted by El Gamo
Don't agree with the prediction but Bell is definitely fun to watch. He can box 11 terrible rounds and then KO his opponent in the 12th. Can't count him out to the final bell and always has a rally in him. One of the most exciting boxers in all the game for that reason alone imo.Originally Posted by Violent Demise
Put me down for a Bell TKO also I just think Mormeck grew old and he waisted his best days doing fuck knows what.
I mean he fought twice in 2002, once in 2003, once in 2004, once in 2005 and twice in 2006 thats 7 fights in 5 years.... when on the norm a champ fights twice possibly three times a year.
I know DK has a role in this but the facts are......
Inactivity is truly a problem for the cruisers but Bell fought just once in 2006, and that was 5 days into the year. So if anyone has a problem with ring rust it's Bell. Especially with these latest distractions.
The problem is is that the top fighters in these divisions feel every fight should be televised or that they should be getting bank. But for whatever reason, the market just hasn't opened up for the cruisers which is a shame since all the top guys fight the top guys and the top guys are fairly exciting.
But I don't think Mormeck has been to terribly inactive. He fought twice last year and will probably fight twice this year and honestly I don't see him as an aging fighter. I think he has 3 or 4 more good years to give.
Mormeck is a great fighter , I think he will KO Bell .
