Default MANFREDO CALZAGHE- Alright let me have it!

I know you all want to gloat... I love Manfredo but this showed even with trainer Freddie Roach and his added weight, he is not world class yet. It looked to me like the second round Calzaghe alowed Peter to hang in. It was a premature stoppage but I think it would have beem over in eight anyway

Thanks... I'll never stop supporting him but looks like it's gonna be a while longer as a fringe contender before he gets another shot.

To get another shot he should go to light MW. He is not strong enough to SMW IMO.

He can't get down to 154 anymore and 160 is way to difficult a div for him IMO...

Manfredo earned a thunderous amount of loot for his 8 mins !

Light-middle is his future, he cant hang at 168.

On the ITV version I watched, Peter looked like a child thanks to the camera angle.
Peter should fight at 160. He just needs to learn how to stay off those ropes. He does not get hit alot per say but he stays in one place to long and ends up taking a few more shots than is necessary. He needs to work on his timming (not stay longer than 3 seconds) or do like Floyd and just when ever you feel your leg brush/touch a rope keep moving and run like a biatch. He has some boxing skills but he needs to use that to his advantage and try to keep the fight in the center of the ring and not get trapped on the ropes.

Exactly. The stoppag was definately premature, but it was inevitable. I thought Peter would be able to steal a few rounds and hang on for a noble loss. I was dead wrong and certainly blinded by my support of my local guy. I wouldn't believe how little he looked and he was definately intimidated to let his hands go.

I can let you have a bit, I had a good laugh anyway from secondsout.com :

The hopelessly overmatched Manfredo barely threw a punch in anger at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, much less land one against the fighting machine known as Joe Calzaghe. The undersized American looked like Frodo Baggins next to the Welshman and fought about as well.

No gloating here man, nothing wrong with supporting your fighter. One of my favorites lost on Saturday as well (Diego Corrales). Hell, at least Manfredo tried to step up and fight the "best" of the division, something his opponent from Saturday is clearly not willing to do.

    CC.

I keep hearing all this and all that about Jones(when did he find his way back to the top of the pile? With Prince Baddi?) and Hopkins(How sick is everyone of hearing about this fight that will never happen) and Taylor(you pitty pat Taylor and your gonna get knocked the fuck out!)...

He won't fight Kessler cuz he's not a "Huge American Draw". Wasn't that what Manfredo was supposed to do for his career?... Open American minds to his skills? OK!

He was put into American homes on HBO's free weekend so even non HBO subscibers could see him... Your out there Joe... Fight fuckin Kessler!
