    Default Dislocated shoulder!

I started boxing about 2 years ago and after about 6 months dislocated my shoulder while sparing. I had to go to the hopitle to have it put back and now 2 years later i still dont quite have full movement in my arm and have knumb fingers and i get bad cramp somtimes, ive been to see a specialist and am now waiting for tests to be done to find any trapped nerves and other problems then ill have to wait for an operation. I havent been back boxing since the dislocation and i miss it like hell.

My question is should i just go back and see how it goes or should i wait untill the operation and make sure any problems are fixed and healed? I tried to get back into it a few months after the dislocation but i get tingling in my fingers when throwing jabs and i really dont want to make things worse.

Well me personally i wouldn't go back and see how it goes you could do yourself even worse injury then you won't ever be able to do it i would wait for operation.

You might want to check anything you do with your specialist before you do it but if you can get hold of a swimming book called Total Immersion. It has good shoulder exercises meant to prevent injury in shoulders which are common in swimmers also. My swimming coach is all for it and she studies human movement so I'd like to think her opinion is reliable.

Still I'm not sure when you would do these exercises - I'm not sure if it's safe to do them before your operation or not. Sorry i couldn't be more help. I've had to reduce my training due to a knee injury for only 6 months so far and I hate it so you must be hating it a lot more after 2 years!

Sharpy ,do yourself a favour, go and see a good registered Osteopath. When these things happen theres shock to the body more than we think,

Oh yes I have had them in both shoulders. Except my left shoulder first popped out at a rope swing that goes into the river. Shit really hurt bad.

My right one popped out fighting. And the way I swing it back into place is when its popped out I swing it backwards in a backwards circular motion. Sometimes it pops back in, sometimes it doesnt. If it doesn't then its going to be alot more pain.

Right shoulder dislocations: I'd say 5
Left shoulder dislocations: I'd say about 5 too.

Ive had experience of the problem, it cant be rushed. Less haste more speed comes to mind.
