    Default Heavyweight tournement idea

This is a pretty stupid idea I had, so I figured I should share it with you guys.
Heavyweight tournement to unify all the big 4 titles.

Round 1 (title holders, vs. #1 mandatory)

    Oleg Maskaev--------\
    vs. Winner---\
    Sam Peter------------/ \
    vs. Winner\
    Ruslan Chagaev------\ / \
    vs. Winner---/ \
    Sultan Ibragimov-----/ \
    vs. Unified Champ
    Wladimir Klitschko---\ /
    vs. Winner---\ /
    Lamon Brewster------/ \ /
    vs. Winner--/
    Shannon Briggs-------\ /
    vs. Winner---/
    Alexander Dimitrenko/

For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

On a serious note this is how I would see it go.

    Oleg Maskaev--------\
vs. Sam P---\ Sam beats Oleg soundly and drops him twice in the fight
    Sam Peter------------/ \
vs. Chagaev\ Chagaevs left hand causes a lot of problems for Peter
    Ruslan Chagaev------\ / \
    vs. Chagaev---/ \
    Sultan Ibragimov-----/ \
vs. Wladimir Klitschko - Wlad stops Chagaev mid-way rd5
    Wladimir Klitschko---\ /
    vs. Wladdy---\ /
    Lamon Brewster------/ \ /
vs. Wladdy--/ Wladdys power proves to much and beats him in 5
    Shannon Briggs-------\ /
vs. Dimitrenko---/ Dimitrenkos activitys 2 much 4 Briggs ref. stops the fight
    Alexander Dimitrenko/

No matter how you stack the first round match ups it ends up being Peter Vs. Klitschko.

I know Peter has improved since the Klitschko fight. I just have a feeling that those improvements will work against him when he fights Wlad. The flailing around actually helped land those awkward shots.

I think a jabbing, careful punching Peter goes the way of Calvin Brock and Chris Byrd before him.

I think this would be a great idea for the fans, the only problems would be

    1) Money

    2) Timing

    3) Money

    4) Promoters, which leads to the last problem

    5) Money

I agree for the most part, I give Oleg more of a shot against Peter than most, although my money would still be on Peter

Don King made the 01 Middleweight tournament happen. But he promoted all those fighters I think.

thats pretty cool, but where's Vitali K? to be honest I can see Wlad cleaning up that list pretty easy. Only Sam Peter poses anything like a credible threat. The sooner Vlad unifies the better.

Sam Peters beats Oleg Maskeav 9 times out of 10. Shannon Briggs is going to lose his title VERY soon. I don't hold a great of faith in Lamon Brewster either, he's like Briggs in that he has a big punch but he only throws one punch at a time. I think Klitschko beats him if they make the fight.

Chagaev is good fighter, I'm waiting with anticipation to see if he can build on the valuev victory, which is one of the best results of the year in any division. I know Valuev wasn't exactly Ray robinson but to beat someone with a 1 foot 90lbs weight advantage is a real achievement. I always said Valuev would be very hard to beat.

I think we'll eventually have to see some sort of unification sorted out, boxing's suffering for the lack of a good heavyweight champion. The lineage has just dried up post-lewis, someone ought to grab this piss weak division by the neck and dominate. It ought've been the Klitschko brothers, coz they're a class apart from the rest at the moment, but they've fucked it up by "retiring" and getting beat. Wlad still has time to redeem himself, and looks to be approaching his prime, but Vitali needs to get serious about wether he wants to come back. For all we know the layoff has knackered him, physically and mentally.

King will do anything, to not let Vlad unify, IMO. Good bracket though!

I think we all wish this scenario.

Screw the Emetrius, he's been out long enough to have to earn his way back up.

Was reading that Moorer wants a third fight with Holyfield. I'm sure the winner will get a title shot, or an eliminator. Holy KOs him again. I can't believe Holy might be able to get a title shot. Ha ha ha ha ha!

Briggs got a shot, why not Holy. Wow, the heavyweight division!

Great idea and the winner of the tourny gets Vitali...even if Wlad wins

Surely Vitali against Wladimir Klitschko would be a promoter's dream and a parents' nightmare. I reckon that, just like when my mates' used to fight their brothers', that the older brother wins simply cause Vitali used to beat Wladimir up when they were about 12 and 6 years old, and Wladdy will never be able to overcome that.

im not a fan of pro tournaments in boxing but in this day and age it'll take something like that to make a clear picture heres what i have in mind:

There's only 4 major belts but theres 4 other semi legit belts as well so here what you do. You set up a 16 man bracket. Each belt orgs champ vs their #1 contender (ibf would face ibf #1 contender and so on). In the event that a champ holds two belts theres a kinda play in match like the ncaa tournament in which case it would be Ibf contender vs Ibo contender and winner of that match goes up against said ibf and ibo champion. This way you get the mandatories and total unification match in one sweeping motion. You crown the winner the ring champ and horray we have a respectable heavyweight picture.
