Default Why I will never be a good boxer.

It's because I'm fucking lazy. I have absolutely no problem going to the gym and running, push-ups, sit-ups, skipping rope, whatever. I can do all of that at the gym, and I even enjoy it sometimes. But when I'm at home, I can almost never force myself to go out and run. Part of the problem is that my stamina is basically shit at this point...so I hate running when I know I'll only be able to go 10-15 minutes before I feel dead. I always tell myself, "When I get home I'll go for a run and skip for 4 rounds" or something like that...but I almost never do it. I did it again tonight. I said I would run when I got home from work. But after work, I went to Subway with my friends...I feel sick if I run within an hour or 2 of eating, so that idea was basically shot. I don't know what it is. It's not that I'm adverse to hard work. I wrestled, and that was the hardest thing I have ever done physically...but I never quit, and I never missed a practice. It's not that I hate running, because I made myself do it when I had to cut weight for wrestling...

For what it's worth, I've only been boxing for about a month...and I haven't even really been boxing. My trainer says I need to work on my condition for a little bit(he said that when I first started, I'm still conditioning). That's definitely discouraging me a bit, the fact that I haven't done anything I couldn't do by myself.

I don't know. I hope that it will get better as I improve my stamina. Like I said, I run when I go to the gym, and I HAVE noticed my endurance improving. Maybe as I go on and start actually boxing things will change...but until then, that is why I will never be a good boxer.

I hate it, and I hope to get past that some day...I have to. I need to. Because if I don't, I'll never be the middleweight champion of the world.

Which means I WILL get past this stupid self-imposed obstacle...Because I WILL be the middleweight champion of the world.

Would you be able to jog in your lunch hour?

Do you have a shower at work and is it close to somewhere you can run?

Otherwise run straight from work before you go home into relax zone?

You only need 30 mins to jog plus shower and change time.

It could just be a stage too.

I find it harder to fit in workouts and stick to them if I have a lot of work things going on even though that's probably when it would really do me the most good to get a quick session in.

Mornings can be good if you can get to bed early enough the night before. That way you get it done before anything can complicate your day.

That's one of the strangest posts I've read on here (well apart, from some of X's). Maybe you should have emailed that statement to yourself.

at least the guy is honest. lol. I'm kinda the same way. I don't do road work or cals at all. All I do is mitt work and bag work and spar. But I'm nearly 34. I'll never fight a real fight so what's the point. i do it to enjoy and learn the sport, and to develop the ability to knock a guy's head off in a bar if I ever need to.

Yeah... might want to at least spar before you say that?

Even then you're miles from knowing if you'd make a half decent Amatuer, let alone a world class pro

How will you never be a good boxer but also the middleweight champ at the same time?

I can understand why you might think it's ridiculous, me saying I'm going to be the middleweight champion of the world...but that's my goal. So that's what I'm going to do. And that's what I say I'm going to do. I'm not off to a good start, I realize that...but give it time. It'll happen.

This is why I'm going to be a successful boxer. Because 9 out of 10 guys are just like this. Me, I love going to the gym and sure I hate running but I do it 3 times a week plus tons of conditioning circuits. I'm dedicated and I love learning and when I read posts like this it just makes me that much more motivated because I know this is likely to be the kind of opponent I fight.

You looking way to far a head... you need goals that you can meet step by step... if you're looking that far ahead then you'll struggle to be motivated to reach easy goals you should be getting in a month or two.
