Default Why don't more top ranked contenders do what Tarver did to get the fight with RJ

I'm wondering why more of these top ranked contenders that claim they are being ducked don't take a page out of the Tarver playbook to get some of these guys in the ring. Tarver was at every fight, every press conference, almost everywhere that RJ was hassling him about a fight. It pissed Roy off and it eventually happened. It may sound shitty but some of these guys need to reign in on some of these champions parades. If I was Kessler, I would be at EVERY tv appearance that Calzaghe makes, jumping in front of the camera and talking over him when he speaks until the man agreed to shut me up in the ring. If you do this enough times without someone fighting you, the public will want to know why and start demanding it. Which in my opinion is what ultimately created the showdown between Tarver and Jones. Let me know what you think.

Yeah I'd like that but really Jones was the only guy worth chasing because he was the p4p number 1 fighter in the world at the time hands down.

Why would you waste your time chasing Calzaghe around wherever he went (well from Wales to Manchester and back again) when there are other equally big potential fights to be made, Taylor, Hopkins, Winky, Tarver, Dawson etc.

Plus if someone did start chasing Calzaghe around he'd just stop going to the press conferences anyway. He'd just send his dad, :P

Or Warren would start to hold his hand in public as well as in private!!!
It feels good to be back home.

Then forget Calzaghe...any of these super stars who won't give some guys their shot right now, and those in the future.

Floyd is the only the superstar fighter, and he was the one doing the calling out. He called Oscar out after every fight for 5 years before he finally got him.

His potential rivals don't call him out cos they know he would whip all of em.

Actually there is one that's been calling him out and it's been gaining alot of momentum.

Because a good promotor will find a way to shoot down hecklers and people who feel they are worthy of title shots. And then build matches with other people that they feel they can market and sell as a threat.

When youre self promoted like Roy, the best thing to do is let that person talk smack and stalk you etc.... and after they have promoted the fight to a level where theres decent money to be made, you fight them.

Many times, boxing is about pride.... but boxing is a business and its about money first. The only difference today is that the fighters today have no shame in admitting it. Its not that bad when you have a guy like floyd say if it makes dollars it makes sense, because hes at the top of the P4P list and youre paying to see the best. But when you have a guy like Taylor scrape by on a few fights and then put on a horrible performance and then say he needs the right money to fight the guy next in line... it become sickening.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.
