Default When practicing Weaving under the rope..

As you advance forward, while weaving under the rope and throwing the jab and straight. Are you supposed to be taking a step forward with each punch, thus switching your stances with each weave and punch? Or are you supposed to advance while shuffling up with your lead foot always in front. Anyone wanna clarify?

The best way ive found is to get 2 ropes 9" apart the length of the ring. Use them both always throwing punches forward backward lateral. Or do what i did make a net over the ring 18 " squares that you can ajust the height to suite the individual.

while you weave under the ropes is your back supposed to get tense? Cus this is my first day of doing this exercise and my back is sore as hell.

oh btw, know any good stretches for the lower back?

Scraps right, you should be using your legs to get down under the rope and not bending your back..

Although as it's your first day doing this exercise, you may be using some supporting back muscles to help you balance bent down that you don't use much... Just about everytime you do something new that uses muscles you don't use much, you feel feel sore in odd places..

Once your back feels okay just go at it again and see how it feels.. Rememeber you want to keep perfect stance when your bending down, so use your knees.

Actualy a good way to practice the biomechanics of it is get afit ball put the ball against thewall and your back against it . Then do 6" squats rolling on the ball while shadow boxing on the spot, slightly pushing against the ball for feel.

Yes put the ball on the upper back between the shoulder blades put the feet central to the ball, so youre not square with the wall but central to the back. you will feel it in the lower back, and can move 6" side to side with the feet and get a nice rythem going lateraly pushing into the wall.

I bend at the waist a little bit. It's just because I'm lazy. The bottome line is that you CAN'T lose sight of your man. as soon as your head goes down and you look at the canvas, you're eating shots. often, that;s a reuslt of bending more at the waist.

another thing... as you go under that rope, made damn sure your hands are on your cheeks. Guys go under with their hands at their shoulders...... defeats the whole purpose.

Me again, if you dont have good posture it gets heavy good little exercise for good biomechanics. Remember if pigs could fly the price of Bacon would increase.

Thanks Scrap CC - I think you told me to do footwork with a 10 lb disc and I have - but always with disk held vertically - does it make much difference?
