    Default Enzo Calzaghe - world's best trainer?

    He's got a good record but the best in the world?

    Calzaghe's dad wins respect
    ENZO CALZAGHE has stepped out of the huge shadow cast by his son — and finally been recognised as the best trainer on the planet.

    Still if he gets 3 world champs at one time - good effort, considering many think Joe is P4P No.1

    As far as I'm concerned, Enzo is mainly a great trainer because of what his son has done, and the attraction of Maccarinelli, Lockett et al has come because they all hope that Enzo's magic touch will rub off on them. I think that we will really see how good a trainer he is if he takes on fighters that are at an earleir stage in their careers, and guide them to world titles.

    Enzo is'nt a bad trainer but perhaps he's riding on his sons back abit and its not like he moulded and trained Maccarinelli from scratch he only got him because his trainer retired.

    Same with Gary Lockett, who was training in the midlands, but didn't like the frequent long drive up there to train, so chose a gym closer to home with Enzo.

    If Rees beats M'Baye then he will have guided a fighter with an extremely troubled past to a World Title. That's gotta be commended. I will tip my hat then!

    Many think Joes P4P number one? Who are these many people? the people in his hometown?

    Enzo Mac has fought no one at all, he has a world Title belt in a weak division lets see him fight someone of world class, Joe is just a gifted athlete and fighter i think he would of had a great career with or without his dad, but i give Calzaghe snr credit seems a nice guy but you cant really say he's the world's best he hasnt had his fighters in with enough great/good fighters to prove that.

    I don't think the people who live on Joe's street think he's P4P number 1

    Maybe he's not No.1 p4p but he has to be pretty high. World champ for 10 years and beaten really good fighters - Eubank, Byron Mitchell, Robin Reid, Lacy. Great record.

    Unfortunately, many people on this forum don't really rate Calzaghe's record over the course of his 10-year reign as WBO champion. Despite that, I think the only ones missing who HAVE been at Super Middleweight is Sven Ottke, who retired and wasn't interested in fighting, and Roy Jones Jr, who vacated his IBF Super Middleweight title to campaign at Light Heavy about a year before Calzaghe claimed his WBO belt. And Kessler...which may yet come to pass.

    I wouldn;'t say enzo is the best trainer on the planet right now.. but i think he has done a damn good jab with quite a few fighters...

    Joe clearly has has done fantastic with;

    Enzo mac has come on leaps and bounds since his move there... he over all game from his stamina to his movment to picking his punches and not just goign in looking for a knock out...

    Rees has potential and i think he will shock alot of people in july - hes been unlucky with picking up knocks that has slowed him down...
