    Default DVD burning...

Downloaded a film last night and it was an AVI - was wondering, does anyone know how the hell you put an AVI format onto a DVd to watch in your dvd ploayer? don't people convert them into some shit first so they will work in like most dvd playerS?

Anyone able to write me a step by step guide to do it and what tools to use to do it with?

    nice one

Yo Oggie, could you PM me the info for that too please?

    Also, 2 other questions please:

How do I transfer subtitles over to the dsc because usually they are a seperate file which ym Div X player does not acknowledge?!

And how do I create chapters for my burns? I hate pressing forward by accident and missing the whole film!

I could post all the info here if it is allowed, part of it is piracy though.

cheers mate! CC'd you for the info...

AVI can be home made films mate that people want to burn to a disk, as long as you don't go posting links or serial codes to copywrighted softwear then there is np...

If you wanted to write a step by step of how to burn a few AVI's onto a dvd with champters for someone who say took a few home movies, stored them as AVI and wanted to put them onto a DVd and seperate them, then there is nothign at all ilegal wrong with that matey

Hey guys the easiest way by far is to use a program called ConvertX2DVD

It's literally about 3 clicks to set up first time you use it and then a 1 click process after that.

Just grab it off the pirate bay.

    No probs man, CC back.
I can post a step by step here for sure, but lots of people use different software... Nero is the only app I use for burning so it is the only one I can explain... but hey, if the demand is high enough.

    Sure thing.
This applies to Nero 7... not sure which version you're using, but here you are:
Open Nero StartSmart from the desktop and on the left you will see the 'Applications' drop down menu. Select Nero Vision and then go to 'Create DVD video'.
On the right of this screen you should see some options... one of them is 'Add video files'. Add whichever file(s) you want and then right click on them if you want to either manually or automatically generate chapters. After this, click next...
Now you should be at the menu creation screen. Usually I don't bother with this, but you can play around with it if you want... if not, just select 'Do not create a menu' from the dropdown list on the top right. Next again...
Now you will see a preview... next again.
Now you're at the burning part. Name the DVD and configure the settings/burn speed if you want and then click burn.
    That's it!

(P.S. Check out my post count now. l33t!)

No, sorry man... if it is a DVD+R drive, +R is all it will read/write.
You can use Nero to check... open Nero StartSmart and on the left click on 'tools'. Then click on 'Nero InfoTool' and let it scan your system. After it is done, it will tell you all the different DVD types that your drive(s) can read/write.
