Yesterday (June 20th) was the first annual bald eagle day. This day was made to celebrate the bald eagle's return to prosperity and its upcoming removal from the endangered species list which it was put on in 1973 (if only we could replace its spot on the endangered species list with hippies from 1973 ). At any rate, this is just like flag day. Its a holiday to celebrate another symbol of america. The date June 20th was picked because 225 years ago (1782) on june 20th, congress established the Blad eagle as the Animal to symbolize america.
