Default Hobson makes $10m offer to Mayweather to fight Hatton!

    Hobson makes offer to Mayweather

Ricky Hatton's promoter Dennis Hobson has upped the stakes in his bid to secure a super-fight with Floyd Mayweather by offering the American $10million to come to Britain.

Hobson is convinced he can put together an offer to tempt the 'Pretty Boy' to come out of his short retirement to fight Hatton in the first big fight at the new Wembley Stadium.

Mayweather has already said he would be willing to come back to fight Hatton, who looked hugely impressive in his fourth-round stoppage of Jose Luis Castillo in Las Vegas last weekend.

Hobson said: "I've offered Floyd $10million to come to Britain and find out who is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

"Mayweather is saying he wants to put pen to paper and this is his big chance to do so. It is a very substantial offer so if Mayweather is serious it is there for him to agree.

"I have already spoken to some of his people and they have been very receptive. Now I am just waiting for them call back and indicate their level of interest."

Hobson insists the expected huge attendance figures could bankroll the fight, for which Hatton would expect a similar-sized purse.

He added: "There is no reason we can't do it over here. We would be happy to align it with pay-per-view time in the States so it could suit both sides of the Atlantic."

Hobson, who is currently negotiating with Hatton to extend his own promotional contract, has revealed he has also been in talks with representatives of IBF light-welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi.

Hobson added: "Talks with Malignaggi's camp have been encouraging but that is definitely a Madison Square Garden fight. Ideally we would like to get the next one secured in this country for Ricky."

never..ricky mightsaswell get ready for a fight in vegas....because it stupid for floyd to go over there he's the best and ricky should fight him in vegas..besides it was like a ricky homecoming against castillo...so the crowd won't be too onesided in vegas..but i think the ticket prices might force a lot of the hatton followers to remain at home

Hobson can't put together an undercard though (Woods is all he's got) which is why i think Warren will have something to do with this as he could put on an incredible undercard and London is his manor.

I agree with you about the ticket prices. I'm not real sure what's going to happen on this one as far as location is concerned. I definitely see Mayweather asking for more money and making sure Hatton gets significantly less. I'm not sure how much of a favorable crowd Mayweather would get anywhere. If I'm Hatton, I don't see a problem coming to Vegas because Floyd's going to shoot his mouth off before the fight anyway and by the time those 2 step in the ring, most of the people will think he's a prick, like they always have leading up to his fights. If Floyd does fight him, I'll be impressed. I'm not sure if Floyd has ever fought an undefeated guy that is close to his age...maybe I'm wrong. I'm waiting to see what weight they will fight at before I start making predictions.

Considering that Mayweather made 8 million to fight Baldomir, I'm guessing he'll ask for more than 10 million to face Hatton. This fight will definitely generate way more revenue than that fight did, so I don't think it's wrong for the fighters to ask for more.

I still think HBO will want to steer this fight to Vegas, but it'd certainly be an amazing atmosphere at Wembley.

What would be good would be if the Hatton forum had an ultra secret board where you can see the latest whispers and whats fresh posted by those closest to the Hitman himself. Cant see it ever happening though, it would just turn into another unmoderated board full of porn an links to streaming sites

Yeah, although, if there's one thing Saddo's forum lacks, it's some good ol' fashioned girl on girl porn.

With the pound so strong against the dollar at the moment tickets prices are not as bigger problem as you might think!

Truth is Ricky wants what Floyd has not the other way around...Floyd not need go to Hatton Hatton need to go to Floyd....This is a situation where Hatton has something to gain not Floyd....

Floyd has nothing left to prove the general concensus is he is #1 in the world P4P.....a few words and a challenge is not how it works....If Floyd needed to cement his legacy and hatton was the final key then I could understand but Floyd does not need to do that....

Vegas is a nutruel as it gets in boxing......To go fight at Ricky's home in the choice of his promoter is plain stupididty and Floyd may be a lot of things but stupid is not one of them

KEY PHRASE HERE IS HATTON NEEDS FLOYD FLOYD DOES NOT NEED HATTON...........You called him out you go get him

Floyd coming to the UK and beating hatton will be in the long run a big plus on his legecy.

sure you could argue cotto or mosley, maybe a shot at taylor at middle are bigger. But people always look fondly on fighter who beat other top fighter in their back yard.

Mayweather may be p4p #1 now and i agree with it, but there are alot who think he could go down as one fo the best ever, eating someing like hatton in england (tbh i dont think the venue matters floyd wins) but in the Uk that would move him up a few spots on the all time p4p list IMO....

    ---------

If this fight happens it will be done by warren or GBP not hobson. He doesn't have the money r power to make this happen, tbh floyd will be looking to get $15-$20 BEFORE the PPV buys... no way can hobson pull that off, warren could stage a cracking undercard and would love to show case guys like enzo and amir on the bill..

If he could match enzo up with cunnigham or o'bell, khan with a decent name with hatton floyd as the mian bill it would be a big interest to alot of people, considering the buys for mayweather v de la hoya staged one of the shites undercards i have ever seen, there will be no doubts this will sell like crazy.

If Floyd comes to the UK, he has his excuse all lined up for when Hatton dumps him on his pants.
