    Default Forrest-Baldomir for WBC title!

With Floyd Mayweather, Jr. electing to keep his WBC welterweight title instead of the WBC super welterweight title he won from Oscar De La Hoya in May, former world champions and current top-rated contenders Vernon Forrest (38-2, 28 KOs and Carlos Baldomir (43-10-6, 13 KOs), will now be fighting for the newly-vacated WBC super welterweight title on July 28. Forrest-Baldomir will be broadcast on HBO live from the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington.

For me it isn't even a top-of-the-bill fight, even if it is for the WBC belt. Perhaps if there was another big fight as a co-feature...it is on Sky Sports though so I probably will watch.

It's being shown delayed coverage on Sky Sports. Think they had it live at one point...shame really, I would of been chumping at the bit to stay up till 4am to watch a couple of old fossils go through the motions

always been delayed mate - sadly tho delayed actualy means "if its good and worth a watch we will show it" there have been quite a few 'deleyed' fights that were to be shown the following firday that never made it because they werent that action packed...

Yeah they've done that a few times recently

I don't care if it's delayed coverage for the Forrest-Baldomir type of fights but earlier in the year they had the Guzman-Katsids bill ( before it went) scheduled on a weeks delay which is bollocks

im not big on delayed fights, once i know the result its kind apointless watching it sometimes (unless its a cracker..)

I can sit down and watch and enjoy a chess match of a fight, but if i know the result and it gets to the point where a guy is ahead the other needs a stoppage, u know it aint hapening it will get borring for me fast..

and tbh this fight goes the 12 without any knock downs...

This fight was supposed to happen earlier on the undercard of the Taylor-Spinks/Miranda-Pavlik fights in Memphis, TN and I still say that if that came out to be, that would be one of the best cards in boxing for quite some time ( along with Ronald Hearns, Andre Berto and more). The fact that HBO chose to show only the WBC middleweight title and eliminator fights in Memphis is another question - Baldomir vs Forrest definitely is a good fight either it is for a WBC Super Welter eliminator ( which was to be in the first date) or for a vacant title now... Tata has proven to be a very strong and tough customer lately ( including against Mayweather) and Forrest is still the guy who had the resources to out-punch Shane so why shouldn't it be a competitive bout? Actually, I believe that at this stage of both fighters careers, if it wasn't for a title, it wouldn't happen at all...

Because who really cares what he said? The fact remains that even if he never said anything about retirement, he still wouldn't be fighting again until november or december anyway.
People act like Floyd has been inactive now for a couple years.... he fought 8 weeks ago.

When he moved up to 154, it was under an agreement with the WBC that he would be allowed to choose after the Oscar fight whether he wanted to keep the belt at 147 or 154.... well, he has now chosen.

WBC is such a fuked up organization, they all are nowadays, but WBC in particular just seems to be in Don King's back pocket more than the others. Baldomir should outwork Forrest and win the belt IMO. I say Mayorga should drop back down and take on the winner after he crushes Vargas.

Waste of time imo. Quartey was robbed during the Forrest fight and Baldo lost his last fight and has done NOTHING at 154 to deserve a shot! Simms,Karmazin,Spinks would beat either of these two.

One of those fights that I don't have any plans on watching, and literally I watch just about any boxing. Both guys bore me to sleep.

the wbc has always hand picked its champ when it can, always alowed fighters form lower weight classes who held thier belt ot get a shot when moving up.
