Although I hate PPV, it is one of the most perfect sports to but on PPV from a marketing standpoint. it has an extremelty dedicated (but relatively small) group of followers. Perfect PPV recipe.

theres a guy that does a sports show here in Philly named Rob Murry. He always says that he doesn't mind PPV. He says it's the best seat in the house and it's only 50 bucks. i would agree with that if they would pack the cards alittle better.

Personally I am not sure if PPV is the problem. I do agree the right fights are not always happening. Perhaps some billionaire should step up and create a Pro Boxing League and have one and only one belt per weight class. Force the champ to fight at least 2 or 3 times a year with manditory challenges against the number #1 contender. Also pay each fighter for the fight and have a larger prize amount for the winner of the fight. No promoters as it would be up to the league to do so.
Never would happen, but I think this would bring out some good fights and clean up boxing of the pretenders.
I would consider myself a boxing fan but I would never pay for all the fights people do in the US. If I was living there I would watch them a week later but you have better coverage than we do in the UK. The only fights here that are PPV are Hattons, before that Naz and Tyson, otherwise we get to watch them through a subscription free at 4am in the morning.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
It's a rip off and the reason so many casual fans have been lost compared to the 80's there is bugger all coverage.I got into the sport really at the age of about 10-11 when the big Vegas fights were on saturday mornings on terrestrial tv.Now kids that age won't be allowed to stay up until 3am when most of the big fights happen on PPV hardly ever terrestrial that for me is the difference.
i guess i'm only pissed if the PPV..SUCKS. But that's not PPV's fault
haha yeah or the ones u pay for that last 89 secs like the Tyson v i think it was Mcneely![]()
I thought $50 for Rahman - Maskaev 2 was a piss take that fight shouldn't have been a PPV.
Shouldn't even be cable.Originally Posted by fluffyninja

we get entertainment, they get money.
whether or not its PPV or cable...we would pay one way or another.

If you make the fights they will watch. Money's not the issue because sports bars would play them too. Its the fights not being made (or being often enough). Over 2 million ppv buys for de la hoya mayweather (thats twice as much as those who watched the stanley cup finals on cable tv) you have to figure that some of those buys where between several people so i don't feel i'm completely off base in saying at least 6 million people watched the fight live. A fair amount of people will tell you it was a good fight (some will tell you it wasn't because there HAS to be a knockdown for a fight to be great).
