    Default Lynes Outboxes Muttley for the title

    Lynes Ko's Muttley in 8 to add the European Light Welterweight title to his British belt

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/6909598.stm

    Less than two months after winning the British title by beating Barry Morrison to win the British belt, Lynes stepped back in to the ring and dominated Young Muttley to claim the European belt, finally stopping him with a combination of hooks pushing him down.

    =========

    Oh how the tide has turned for Colin Lynes. Two years ago, after back to back losses against Lenny Daws and Junior Witter, it looked like Lynes might end up as a nearly man. Heck, even two months ago he was an underdog going in against Barry Morrison for the title, butnow with an European title, he seems to be becoming a prominent force in the light welterweight division. With Hatton and Witter fighting at world level, it will be interesting to see how Lynes copes with European competition. Good on him I say, especially being willing to get back in the ring so quickly after his last fight.

    Sorry for the lack of RBR folks, but I didn't have the access to Sky last night.

    Lynes was a man on a mission and it showed.
    So much a better boxer than Mutley

    Lynes was fantastic. I thought he might win. I'm really impressed with him and as Light-Welter isn't exactly thriving with talent, maybe a world title isn't too far a stretch.

    awsome display from lynes, two titles in six weeks and hardly a hand laid on him,and both fights away from home, bami in london would be a great scrap but barnes mandatory for british and branco for ebu so any one should be good

    Well, he's only just won each of the belts, so one would hope he'd get a voluntary defence in there somewhere, but even as a British boxing fan I reckon he'd get a tougher test from Branco.

    Agreed. He's proving to me that he doesn't need to be hanging around the domestic scene. Time to go and get some better tests.

    I've seen him a few times from ringside and never saw anything to suggest he could box that well BUT Mutley is sh*t and so slow to throw that wide left hook that he's wide open.
    Lynes looked great but let's not forget who he fought here.
    Witter made him look average at best and had a poor night himself in doing so

    Witter is world class though. Lynes aint no world beater but in his last two fights he's shown the Daws fight was all wrong and the showing against Witter was a genuine good one.. even if Witter was off. I expected him to comfortably beat Mutley with his jab alone, but thought Mutley would at least get into the fight - maybe the weight had an effect on Mut.

    Perfect performance and superb jab, almost a flawless performance. I hope he goes far.
