Default This may be hands down, the greatest year for boxing, ever!

    We've had...

    Marquez vs. Barrera
    Oscar vs. Floyd
    Judah vs. Cotto
    Hatton vs. Castillo
    Pavlik vs. Miranda
    Williams vs. Margarito
    Hopkins vs. Wright
    Marquez vs. Vasquez

And still to come we have...

    Hatton vs. Mayweather
    Taylor vs. Pavlik
    Kessler vs. Calzaghe
    Pacquiao vs. Barrera
The first Heavyweight unification bout for 10 years
    Mosley vs. Cotto
    Marquez vs. Barrios
    Marquez vs. Vasquez II

How can people complain about boxing now?

I bet the 80's and 70's had quite a few years like this.

I remember 2000 being a real good year with Barrera Moralez, DLH Mosley and Trinidad Vargaz. But I don't think that year was as good as this one. Defenately the best year of this decade, don't know about the best ever since, well I am not an imortal

this is what i've been thinking since the calzaghe-kessler and mayweather - hatton match ups have been made!

the floyd ricky fight i have been waiting for 2 years! and the calzaghe kessler fight for over a year. apart from that its still been awesome.

i think boxing has woken up again, the best are now fighting the best. i think guys like maccarnelli need to grow some balls and move up to Heavyweight. also hay-mormeck is gonna be great. imo hay destroys mormeck inside 3 round. the guy hits far too hard. one right hand and its night night for mormeck.

I also think it's been a great year but I hope it continues. The best match-ups seem to be getting made & rival companies are working together to get things done! If things keep going this way the sky is the limit!

Hell yeah! We had Hopkins-Wright and it's STILL been a great boxing year.

It's a great year.... not one of the best. Hell, don't ruin this year by even saying that. Makes me think of all the negative parts of the year and how you guys don't know your boxing history.

    Barrera Marquez tops the list.

Why would he ruin the year for saying that

However guys...I must look at both sides of the argument. I've done my very best to block it out, but I did see Skelton vs. Sprott and Taylor vs. Spinks this year

I already wrote the answer to that. But it's a great year.
Don't compare it to any other, it stands by itself. Many years were good on it's own. Boxing is Boxing.
I like this year too. Still, matches like this weekend are in the top 5 of this year.
Too bad not that many watch showtime. I hope Vasquez knocks out Rafeal. (... and if I were a betting man... )
