Default Manny open to fight Katsidis

Although he’s not looking past Marco Antonio Barrera, boxing icon Manny Pacquiao said recently hard-hitting WBO interim lightweight champion Michael Katsidis will be considered as a future opponent “if the price is right.”

Katsidis is not ready for Manny yet, he really needs to improve his defense. Manny should fight guys like Guzman, JMM again, Juan Diaz, hey even Casamayor if he wants to cement his legacy. Who knows Katsidis may improve but at the moment i think he would be out of his depth and i am a huge fan of Kat. I'd like to see Kat fight Robbie Peden in an all aussie brawl....

I also feel the same way. But the guy is calling on PAcquaio. Pacman might as well teach him a lesson or two on being knocked out.

Manny needs to just shut his mouth and concentrate on beating MAB! I have SIG bets on that fight so he better not lose. And after that,he has JMM/SOTO/GUZMAN all after him. And if he gets through them,Juan Diaz is a much better opponent than Kats.

Why would Pacquiao want Katsidis ?? what has Katsidis proved other than being exciting ??

    What about.

    Valero
    Marquez
    Guzman

Why not any of these fights ??

Michael Katsidis' next opponent will likely be David Diaz in Januray on HBO.

If Manny and Marquez both win their next fights, then neither should be considering any opponents other than each other.
Pac-JMM II would be the biggest fight out there, in terms of money and importance.

If Manny is having trouble making 130 then by all means he should move up but if he's comfortable at this weight, there is plenty for him here. Another fight with JMM is almost a moral imperitive and then he could take on Valero.

What do you all think Manny's chances at the top spot of 135 would be if he went straight to Casamayor, Juan or Julio Diaz?

I think Casamayor could give him a lot of problems. I'd have to see more of the Diazs to get an opinion on them, although Juan is definitely a big lightweight.

Generally speaking, a fighter like Manny is going to have problems moving up in weight. He is a high-contact fighter, and as you move up, the punches you land have less effect, and the punches you absorb are harder.
Manny has managed to maintain his effectiveness so far, but that will only last so long. Keep in mind, his big wins (MAB, Morales) are against fighters who started at 122 before moving up. It could be a whole different story when he starts fighting guys who started their careers in the 130s.

IMO, Manny better keep being able to make 130.

It was Katsidis who's been calling out for Manny. And Manny just replied "if the price is right, why not?".

Nothing wrong with that. It's not like Pac is fighting both MAB and Kats at the same time right?

So many opponents, so lil time for Pac. LINE 'EM ALL UP

    El gamo,

he is concentrating with his fight against MAB. Like what Pacstraight said, it's Katsidis who is calling on Pacman.

Pacquaio is a true warrior. He simply can't ignore a challenge.

While I salivate at the thoughts of Katsidis fighting pretty much anyone...he aint ready for Pacquiao or even a Valero at this time.

Katsidis fights for the fans & that's great & all...but he needs to concentrate more on boxing when he get's into a pinch instead of being the next Gatti...if he doesn't he'll meet his end much the same way as Gatti did.

Katsidis is fantastic but he leaves the barn door open from time to time & someone that's heavy handed & quick like Pac would be the end of him.

Great kid & 100% exciting...he just needs to grow a bit.

I still think the Pacman is pushing his luck wanting to fight anyone at 135lb, the K man fight would be fantastic to see.

Not me...although I feel ya...I just think that he could hang with a few more LB's.

I aint a Pac groupie...but he seems to be taking the weight well so far...although he did look a bit sloppish @ the full 130lbs against Solis, which I attribute more to running for political office than the weight gain.

. I know that 135 is a chunk of weight...but if he can carry his power up another 5lbs as he did when he moved up to face Morales the second time then he'll do fine.

Pac's got the frame to move up...but not any further that 135lbs & surely not 140.
