Im glad my boy Pavlik won but Taylor also gained my respect because he showed skills which he hasn't shown in quite a while he showed more heart and skills than in any other of his championship fights did anyone else feel this way ??

he earned all of my respect, i said before the fight that he was talking too much shit, and that he never did anything to live up to his hype, and well even though he lost he put up a huge effort
Yes, Taylor earned a lot of respect from me. I think he showed a good chin and decent heart - he took a ton of right hands from Pavlik and kept trying. I had Pavlik up by a round at the time of the stoppage, but it was a very close fight.
He seemed to make the mistake of trying to match Pavlik's punch output, which seemed to hurt him in the long run when, like usual, he ran out of gas after trying to put Pavlik away. I don't know if he could've done anything to change the outcome of the fight though, Pavlik was a man possessed Saturday night.
One more thing about Taylor, I actually - for the 1st time - found him exciting to watch. His skills, particularily his handspeed, are a lot more impressive than I thought they were. For a guy that seems pretty smart outside of the ring, he doesn't seem that bright inside the ring.
He had my respect before the fight, just for having the calzones to fight the best. Now I admire him as a fighter, flaws and all - he's got a lot of skill, talent, and character. I'm sure I'll watch the rematch - hopefully soon.
Must say, Taylor fought a hell of a fight. I figured Pavlik would win early and in convincing fashion. Beign from Ohio, KP was my boy from the start, and I loved the OSU shorts... Now I only hope that all the KP haters will shut up, and maybe this kid can get some credibility with the judges, sorry but it was a joke in the JT bout. How many fights must the kid win before HE gains some respectJT is a great fighter and if beating him doesn't erase some doubt, I dont know what will.

I picked Pavlik to win but i'm not as impressed as most people are about his performance, Taylor put on a good show, his best in a couple of years and still managed to lose.
He has gained some respect, will gain more if he fights Pavlik again and wins.
Pavlik gets my upmost respect for coming back the way he did when the fight may have been all over in the second round.

He came away with something. This is really is a defining moment for taylor. If he bounces back from this he will definitely be one of my favorite fighters. He finally showed me he can bang with the big boys. Still a loss, but a win in the respect department. He threw caution to the wind.
i have always had respect for Taylor. He is a very good fighter and was a good champion. Not too many other fighters would have done better against some of the most elite fighter of today the way JT did. He fought BHop twice (weather you feel he won or lost, he still was right there with him), fought Winky to a draw and Spinks fight looked bad, but he ran the whole fight and most people would look bad in a fight like that. This past fight with Pavlik, he looked awsome. He was only a punch away from having Kelly out in the 2nd round. His performance show the heart of a champion and deserves the respect from everyone..
I've been a fan of Jermain for a long time, I watched him grow up in some fights and I saw his potential to beat Hopkins before a lot of people on the forum.
The problem he had vs Pavlik is that he just couldn't get away from Kelly's punches and Kelly never got tired. It was a hell of a fight.
I will say this though, Jermain Taylor shouldn't be hated on because he won some close decisions....IMO the Spinks and Ouma fights were the reasons I became a tad tired of his antics but his work vs Hopkins and Wright was great stuff and he has a long career ahead of him just so long as he keeps trying to get better.
He could beat Pavlik in a rematch, it's not out of the question, he hurt him in the fight.....great fight though
He said that he made the mistake of overdoing it in the second round and letting Kelly escape but although hurt, Pavlic was there also and he made Taylor overwork while defending himself admirably. Taylor did fight hard and tried his best and Saturday in my eyes he became a fighter. Respect for him is in order. Pavlic was no surprise he had the goods. Taylor didn't know that.
Wow i'm surprised, everyone taking the piss out of Taylor for losing and then a thread like this appears where everyone is giving him his props. You're a strange bunch lol
Still, i'm glad because I thought I was the only one that saw a new Taylor in there.
