    Default Tszyu: Floyd losing focus!

the 38-year-old ex-world champion who has still not officially retired says he is training every day, staying in shape and keeping an eye on boxing around the world, especially the December 8 fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Ricky Hatton. "It is a very interesting match," wrote Tszyu in an email to his fan club. "I have double feelings on who will win. I can see how Mayweather can win and I can see how Hatton can win. The reason why is that I never felt that Ricky could beat me, but it happened. I remember a time when Roy Jones Jr. felt he was unbeatable, the same way I felt.

Is Kosta Tszyu saying he felt that he was unbeatable before or after Vince Phillips knocked him out??

I think he's saying that he learnt from the Phillips loss, came back as a better fighter and then felt unbeatable based on his 8 year winning streak which included 13 wins, 11 ko's, winning the WBC, WBA & IBF Light Welter titles and defeating fighters with a combined 565-37-9 record, including Julio Cesar Chavez, Sharmba Mitchell, Zab Judah, Jesse James Leija, Miguel Angel Gonzalez and a host of other top 20 names.

Of course, thats just my assumption from reading between the lines

So I guess what is being said is that Kosta Tszyu felt he was unbeatable after he got knocked out by Vince Phillips for a while.....

Then he quit on his stool against Hatton and realized he wasn't unbeatable

I just don't see how anybody could imagine that they're unbeatable after they got knocked out by an inferior fighter who, in spite of being unbeatable, never went for the rematch.

    Now it all makes sense

That's an awful lot of eye-rolling directed at a former world champion. Sounds to me like he said he felt unbeatable, not that he said he was unbeatable.

    Two totally different things.

And while we're on it - people are annoying the crap out of me by implying that ANYONE is unbeatable. That's crap. The best fighter in the world could, on any given day, step into the ring and get KTFO. Even if it is by a supposedly "inferior" fighter. It has happened so often, you'd think people would get the point by now. There are no guarantees in boxing. None.

Nicely put I mean really, look at Zab's career. He doesn't lose on any given night, he loses on EVERY given night.

I think its time for Tszyu to "officially" retire. Any kind of comeback for him could be disasterous at his age and inactivity. Its probably hard for him to accept that his boxing career is over but I think he needs to.

He probably thinks he can do like the Gatti's, Holyfields, Golota's etc and keep fighting. He should never get back in the ring, but he probably will. Most fighters seem stubborn as mules

I reckon every fighter thinks they are unbeatable, Tszyu was no exception.
If any fighter walks into the ring thinking they cannot win then that will happen, did Buster Douglas believe he couldn't beat Tyson? Tyson was unbeatable at the time according to the majority of experts and Kapow!
Tszyu thought he couldn't lose against Hatton and was wrong that's all, i've always believed he underestimated Hatton and paid the penalty for it, Hatton is a bloody good fighter and deserved his win.
As for Phillips, he got lucky and caught Tszyu at the right time, Tszyu was ill days before that fight and should have postponed it. A rematch would have been a waste of time as Tszyu would have won easily.
Tszyu just got old and lost to the hungrier, younger fighter in Hatton. He thought he couldn't be beaten just as Jones Jr thought Tarver couldn't beat him.
Mayweather firmly believes he is unbeatable, time will tell if he is right or not!
