TALENT
RP the girl can sing shes definetly talented.
That shes a drug addict and a alcoholic is another thing.
yeah, she has an alright voice.. i was focusing more on the choice of lyrics, regardless of if she IS a druggie or not.
maybe it's because i'm from a musical background and see straight through the fabrication. She doesn't play her own music, and i'd be pretty surprised if she writes all of her songs. As far as respect for actual songwriters who have a good enough voice to just sing and not play their own music, there are very few people who fall into that category.
But to each his own i suppose.. i'm a fan of Janis Joplin and she doesn't have a great voice, so you may not appreciate her, but i just like the real thing.. no orchestra behind the voice... but i digress, that's a whole different topic
I didn't know you had a musical background....Interesting.
I'm big on music and friends sa I probably have the broadest likes of music of anyone they've met.
My I-Pod has all sorts of music and it's music that I like that I can sing to and dance to. It's not just music I know was popular or music that I know stands for something. I'll be the 1st to tell you I don't such artists as Bob Dylan or Johnny Cash on my I-Pod but it's not because I don't like it but more because I haven't came across into their music.
I have music from: (to name some)
Patsy Cline (country) - US
Jose Alfredo Jimenez (Ranchero spanish) - Mexico
Journey (Soft rock) - US
Ne-Yo (r&b soul) - US
HIM (Rock) - Finland
Kirk Franklin (Gospel) - US
Jose Feliciano (Spanish folk music) - Puerto Rico
Eminem (Hip-Hop) - US
Bone Thugs N Harmony (Rap) -US
The Smiths (80s) - UK
Soda Stereo (Spanish 80s) - Argentina
Tego Calderon (Spanish Hip-Hop) - Puerto Rico
Michael Jackson - US
Celia Cruz (Cuban music/Salsa) - Cuban
Mariah Carey (R&B) - US
La Ley (Spanish Rock) - Chile
My Chemical Romance - US
Fito Olivares (Spanish cumbia) - Mexican
Jordy (Dance) - French
Miguel Bose (SPanish 80's/dance) - Spain
As you can see to me if it sounds good and I see the artist and he can sing live and all that then I look into the music.
I hate these bands today who have a hit (which by todays standards that's pretty much anyone who can record audio) and then they think they've made it. Pisses me off!
RP since we're on the subject a while a go I had a discussion with someone here in regards to had the best voice of all time.
My vote goes to Steve Perry from Journey followed by Freddy Mercury and then Mariah Carey.
From todays voices I would say Chris Cornell (Audioslave) is head and shoulders above the rest.
