That first round was the best round of the year both men gave it everything they had what a wild fight it was i couldn't believe how good it was.

Looked more of a slip, and he only got hurt cos he landed two clean punches when jaidon was down, and he still got right up unphased

And bika was real hurt when jaidon put him down and caught him with that left hook later in the first

Im shocked and upset jaidon lost though

But think of it this way

Its still a ten round fight, thats no pussy contender shitt.. Thats pretty real man, and before this contender season..Who would have given the don a chance against sakio bika in a ten round contest if you imagine the contender never happened

it is a good show on boxing, but the boxers are not as top notch as they want to make it seem. But I like Ray Leonard on the show. He has found a way to be in the spotlight and not be the egomaniac he used to be. Not as much anyway.

I'll be the 1st to admit a strong disliking for the Contender. But like Magic said, that Contender finale was awesome, for die hard fight fans and casual observers. I was glad Bika won, but that b.s. punching when Jaidon was down should have had repercussions, like a point taken away at the least. He didn't even get a warning from what I saw. Wish all the guys on Contender would put their heart out there during the whole season; I might watch it.

I happen to like the show and the fight was good fight and one of the FOTY and the 1st round imo is Round Of The Year you may dislike the show but surely you have to agree that fight done boxing a whole lot of good ??

CC back Wack; though I would disagree about Jaidon being sh#t. He's got a long way to go IMO, and should work on letting his hands go more, putting punches together. He seemed to fight in spurts and became tentative, maybe just not wanting to get hit with those wide looping shots. Had there not been so much on the line I think he'd have done better. Stands up too straight alot of the time also. Don't ever think he'll be world class, but in a couple of years he can make some noise.

Is The Contender good for boxing? Maybe; Maybe Not. How can we really know?

Of the "new" fans how many will research the sports history and educate themselves on the ins and outs of boxing? Very few, I'd say.

I think it's up to us as second or thrid generation fans to get more people to watch. Groom our younger family members to appreciate what boxing is all about. Make sure our children understand why boxing is fundmental.
