in your opinion.
i will name a few fighters, and tell me where you would put ike, above, below, or next to them.
George foreman (murderous)
Lennox lewis (really hard but not murderous)
Evander holyfield (hard)
I'm not sure.

George was just a power machine....his feints hurt...
I put Ike above Holyfield below Lewis and Foreman

lol yeah foreman was somat else. thing is when foreman hit you, you fell (unless your ali) but i saw clips of lewis fight some unbeaten russian fighter who lewis outweighed him by 25 or more pounds, he caught the fella flush on many occasions coming in and the guy didnt blink. now if foreman had all them advantages over someone, he would've killed em.
i mentioned holyfield cos i knew he wasnt a very hard puncher but hit fairly hard for a HW, but it was just so ppl know where to put ike if they thought he wasnt murderous but just hard hitting.
i think holyfield hit hard, he rocked foreman badly in their fight and stopped douglas who tyson couldnt ko....yes i know tyson was out of shape, but a punch is a punch. i know douglas was out of shape...
the thing with ike i was noticed is that he was a very very smart fighter...reminds me of liston (similar build, both have good jabs, good in and out movement etc).
he concentrated more on speed and then occasionally (byrd fight) he would unleash bombs.
I'll put him in Lewis category.
I think u need to ask Chris Byrd for the best answer.....![]()
Is that Chris's brother, did he also fight Ike?Originally Posted by eagle

I think he punches more like Foreman. Foreman didn't have that one punch knock out. Whether it was technique or what he just didn't knock guys out as much as he pummeled them into oblivion. Lewis has more snap to his punches and he really ko'ed guys when he hit them properly, same with Tyson. I think Ibeabuchi didn't have that crackle in his punches, he is like COtto or Foreman in that he would pummel guys and break their will, but I think the bigger gloves and fighting tough guys so early in his career stopped him from having that great ko ratio. Regardless he had that Cotto thing that he could punch beautifully to the body, and he could box decently, and he pretty fast along with all that strength.
I had it Foreman , Lewis, Ibeabuchi then Holyfield... But all of them could crack.Originally Posted by CutMeMick

The thing with Holyfield at HW though was his stamina was so damn good guys just could not keep up with the pace...not just p[unch out put but moving around getting on the inside ( something that takes a lot out of a fighter).......Holyfield knew how to soften them up before the KO.....With the exception of Moorer who was soft to start with![]()

i like ur topten list.Originally Posted by Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker
i think when ike really sat down on his shots he could really bang. so i would put ike above holyfield, and above lewis but below foreman.
ike was a very clever fighter, he would throw fast shots and like in the byrd fight, when he had you against the ropes or you were in front of him, he would sit down on his shots and spark you in brutal fashion.
i was just watching his fights with byrd and everton davis and some other 6'6 guy, and everytime ike got close and landed properly, he floored his man. he really is a waste of talent.
apparently his mental behavior started after the tua win. they said he complaned of headaches and was basically flying into rages, breaking his sparring partners legs (literally). does anyone else think the tua fight really messed him up? tua did land some BOMBS!
im not sure cos even during the tua fight he seemed very volatile, at the end of some rounds it seemed like he still wanted to get at tua.
I didn't really try on the second list because otherwise i would be here all day Daxx.Originally Posted by Daxx Kahn
