Default Hola Mick! Arguello V Olivares

After posting about the overnight sensations i went back and watched Arguello V Olivares again last night and correct me if i'm wrong i have Olivares ahead at the end of 12. The KO was conclusive but Olivares fought well in this fight. Judges had him losing, interested to know your thoughts on one of my favourite all time fights.

Well it's by no mistake that I have that pic. in my avatar yes it's one of my fav. fights.
Now that I think about it this fight is also my fav. passing of the torche fight, meaning from 1 great fighter to another.
To clear that up Olivares is an ALL-TIME and lost to Arguello who became an ALL-TIME that's what I mean by passing of the torch.

About the fight well Olivares was there thru 12 most defintely. I did have Olivares ahead by 2 rounds IMO Olivares began to tire out and I think he knew he wasn't gonna be able to go the 15 rounds fighting the way he had been fighting so in the 12th he pretty much threw all the punches he had left in him and went for the KO. He managed to land some really solid shots but couldn't hurt or drop Arguello. If you watch the fight closely when Olivares walks back to his corner pay close attention to Olivares walk his body language indicates hes done all he could. Come the 13th round Arguello just brought on the pain and finished off a tired Olivares.

Great fight Olivares was ahead after the 12th, but one of the mistakes i think he made, was that he put everything he had into the 12th round to put Arguello away. And he had nothing left after that round, Arguello took the punches very well im not sure if he made Olivares tire himself out or he was really hurt, but anyway then Arguello explodes out of his corner for the 13th and lands one of the most perfect left hooks i've ever seen, i like a mixture of brawling and boxing and this fight had both amazing fight, i would have loved to have seen Zarate vs Olivares.

First of all, thanks for your input gentlemen. I am glad i'm not alone in thinking Olivares was ahead after 12, how one judge had it 9-3 for Arguello amazes me. You are right Mick he was spent after 12 rounds and had nothing left in the tank by the 13th. As for Olivares V Zarate i go for El Puas by KO in the 6th!
A truly great fight well remembered.

When Arguello falls to the ropes it's really hard to tell whether he was really hurt or pretending...
I think he was hurt and recovered quickly from the shot. Olivares was always a good finisher so if he went for it that means he felt Arguello was hurt.
Have you seen the Champions Forever: Latin Legends documentary?
It has some great inside info to that bout and they go deep into it with a lot of facts & foot notes about that fight really recomend it to you if you haven't seen it.
