Default It looks like Pac vs Hatton is on the way. Thoughts?

In a boxingtalk interview, Freddie Roach said that they've already mapped out three fights for this year with Bob Arum, and will collect belts at 130, 135, AND 140. Freddie said that Pac wants Hatton and Hatton said that he'll fight Pac. So it looks like this thing is really gonna happen. I think Pac can do it, he's actually a bit taller than Hatton and has a longer reach. The only problem is that Hatton has been a monster at 140 but if Shane Mosley can jump from 135 to 147 to fight ODLH then there's no reason why Pac can't jump from 130 to 140 to fight Hatton. Honestly, people are gonna say this is a boxing fan's dream fight but stylistically I think it's gonna be a snoozefest. Hatton claims to be exciting but honestly his style is fucking frustrating and somewhat boring to watch with all the holding, hugging, and fouling. His fights are exciting because his fans create an atmosphere of excitement not because of anything he's doing. With Pac coming up to 140, Ricky will be very strong and just maul Manny all day. He won't stand toe to toe and land clean punches.

Im not sure Pacquiao will even get past Marquez so lets not count our chickens just yet. If it did happen i would favor Hatton because he is so much bigger than Pacquiao naturally i really can't see Pacquiao beating Hatton at Jr Welterweight. And why in the world would Pacquiao want to go up to Jr Welterweight anyway ?? there are so many other matches at Super Featherweight/Lightweight that can happen. Like Joan Guzman, David Diaz, Juan Diaz, Michael Katsidis, Edwin Valero, ETC. I would favor Pacquiao in almost all of those fights i really think moving up to Jr Welterweight is a big no no.

And you said about Mosley moving up from Lightweight trying to compare that with Pacquiao moving up. Thats totally different for 1 Mosley started at Lightweight so it was easier for him to move up. Pacquiao started at Flyweight, thats 7 weight classes below Jr Welterweight. Plus Pacquiao hasn't even fought at Lightweight yet so we don't know how he will perform. I really think your expectations are a bit too high on Pacquiao just think logically about what weight class Pacquiao started at and your expecting him to jump up another 2 weight classes and beat Hatton at 140 who is the best Jr Welterweight at the moment ??

    Nope, not gonna happen.

Catch weight @ 135 maybe. But then that would be impossible for Hatton.

Pac will get himself killed if he fights hatton @ 140+.

Far too premature to start talking about this fight. JMM/David Diaz and a fight with Juan Diaz are far important and it's no guarantee Pacquiao will beat them, let alone Hatton having to bounce back from getting KTFO with tricky fights v Paulie etc.

CC. I agree with you. Yeah, I definitely thing Pac has no business at 140. There's a TON of fights that could be made at 130 and 135. But I think all the elite star boxers are all looking at the year that Floyd had ($50 Million) and thinking they wanna break the bank too so they aren't gonna make the best fights, they are gonna try to make the biggest events. It's one of those things you hate about the sport, but boxing is a business and these guys are the ones risking their lives I guess.

Freddie Roach himself said this, it's not just a discussion topic. That's why it's so interesting.

Totally agree with the highlighted, good posting. I'd MUCH rather see those fights than a Hatton "event"

...I don't even want him moving up to 135 - I think he should just clean up the super-featherweight division and retire honorably... I'd rather see Juan Diaz fight Hatton instead...
Once in awhile, get outside in fresh air, take a deep breath & with a deep sigh, let out all the things that's bottled up inside you & be free, & you'll get a glimpse of nirvana.

Pacquiao has to many good fights ready for him where he is. 135, would be too much for him IMO. I don't think he will even get past Marquez

Me too Hatton vs Pacquiao i hate to say it but it would be a bit of a joke IMO. Pacquiao started off as a Flyweight where as Hatton has been Jr Welterweight all his life. Hatton is very strong at Jr Welterweight he can bully all his opponents and he would bully Pacquiao in a big way. Plus Hatton can take a great shot, he took Tszyu's best shots who is one of the hardest hitting Jr Welterweights in history, so i don't expect Pacquiao's power to really bother him. Because moving that much up in weight where he wouldn't be comfortable his power wouldn't be much of a factor IMO.

Thanks El Gamo and yes i really want to see Pacquiao take on Juan Diaz or Joan Guzman assuming he beats Marquez. I think Guzman would be the worst style match up for Pacquiao, he is fast has good upper body movement, and is hard to hit, i can see Guzman frustrating Pacquiao and winning a decision.

Two defensive fighters with not that big of a punch. Mayweather, hard to hit. Winky, hard to penetrate, his defense, that is .

LOOKs like the promoters are at it again, imo they are just testing the water. putting rumors out there of a possible match between two beloved fighter to see if the fans will bite.

They've been making the result of pac vs jmm 2 way to abvious. I don't want to say looking past but it seems like everyone in top rank even goldenboy know whats going to go down.

Look guys, goldenboy owns jmm and oscar himself have had plans of facing pac. which is weird, doesn't that mean he too knows pac will just take jmms title as if jmms is a little school girl with short skirts? Its clear who the bigger draw is between pac and jmm and it appears to the ones who know boxing most know who is the far greater fighter....(pac)
