It was said that Ngoudjo vs Castillo was to become mandatory for the wbc title..
Jlc won.. Never challenged for the belt.. Is he still mandatory?.. Does a loss to hatton sacrifice his mandatory position?

Castillo no longer fights at 140. So I\'m pretty sure he\'s no longer the mandatory.

Good question. I don't know the politics of the situation but if Hatton is serious about staying at welterweight 140 has a lot of questions. Not the least of which include Malignaggi, Victor Ortiz and the Peterson brothers with Junior Witter as The Man.
JLC will soon retire if anything he'll keep fighting in small venues in his hometown and around Mexico.
Last i heard of Castillo was when he was supposedly fighting Margarito. I hope he retires he never belonged at Jr Welterweight in the first place.
Thats kinda sad. I loved Castillo, I was/am a big fan, even though he fukin SCREWED us all on that Hatton fight. The man was a warrior and a great lightweight champion. And the first man to beat Floyd Mayweather, hell the only man to do it.Originally Posted by CutMeMick

Castillo was a great brave fighter, I feel sorry that he remains in a sport where he belonged for so long and now a mere shadow of himself he's moving onto bigger opponents than ever before.

JLC is number 2
Tim Bradley is WBC youth champ and number 1 contender for Junior LORD OF THE DANCE Witters title
Tim Bradley is ranked Number 26/ 27 by boxrec. Why has he such a high ranking by the WBC?
Witter will destroy him and get no credit. Witter needs the big fights now to get his profile raised. Beating Bradley will do nothing for him. Unfortunately he will want to keep the belt so looks like he will have to take him on.

Pay no attention to the BoxRec rankings they are IMO the worst out there.Originally Posted by Bukom Battler

Boxrec would be a great system if it were more reliable.

Boxrec - as with any other potential computerized ranking - lacks the subjective element. Which in some cases is a good thing, but most definitely problematic when it comes to assess boxers as well. On paper, Ismael Abdoul did better against Haye than Mormeck did, and Ashira, Lacy and Kessler did similarly well against Calzaghe - in real life, not so much.Originally Posted by hitmandonny
FWIW boxrec rankings are great though, as they do give a somewhat good indication of the level of the fighter (especially handy for boxers one have never heard of).
I actually like the computerized IBO-rankings btw. Along with the Ring, the best 'official' ones out there imo. Shame that the belt is meaningless.
Good point, the IBO seems to be making great efforts to form a respectable organisation.
