Yesterday ODLH was emphatic in say , that in 2008 will be his last year in the active boxing and emphasized that does not discard the possibility to close the year of a fight with the Champion Miguel Cotto......

He commented; " I really want come out with my hands up like a Champion , first I'm thinking in Forbes in May , then in Mayweather in Sept. and in December obviously i have to fight against the Best of the Worlds and Miguel Cotto is in this category "..........

I for one do not think Cotto will have a walk in the park against Margarito. I also think that if Cotto loses to Margarito, both Oscar and Floyd will definitely not fight Cotto. They will use Cotto's loss as an excuse not to fight Cotto EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE NEVER DARED TO STEP IN THE RING WITH MARGARITO. I really respect Cotto, a man who truly takes on all comers that are put in front of him, as he likes to say in his post fight interviews.

That is setting yourself up for disaster. However slim the chances are Forbes still has a chance of beating ODLH, then what would Cotto's camp say well ODLH didn't look very good and got beat by a guy who is naturally 135-140 pounds lets sign the contract!!

I don't know, I doubt De La Hoya who stepped in the ring with middleweights is scared of Cotto. I think that would be a great fight and possibly a great set up to Cotto - Mayweather.

Say by some chance De La Hoya and Mayweather draw a second time around. Not likely I know but as long as we are talking hypothetical situations then it's fair game. I think that would work in everyone's interest because they don't have to rematch after that and what if De La Hoya chases Cotto? I can’t stand Oscar and am a huge Cotto fan, but my objectiveness tells me that Cotto would not have a “walk in the park” against Oscar. First of all, Oscar is a seasoned pro. Second, although diminished by time, Oscar still possesses great skills. But believe me, there would only be two possible results from this fight. A KO victory by Cotto, or…. Who am I kidding? Ok… only one possible result.

Oscar, even at this stage of his career, is a better technical fighter, stronger puncher, and even faster than Cotto.

Here’s where we part ways. I don’t agree with any of that. Faster? Maybe a few years ago. Technically? Maybe a few years ago. Stronger puncher? You’re joking, right?

I’ve never liked the guy. I respect his skills, and his career. But I cringe whenever people want to glorify him beyond reason. There’s been tons of fighters with better records, better skills, better opponents, etc. That he’s made boxing popular with his TV personality and his cross-cultural appeal? I’ll grant you that.
