    Default Just watched Wright-Trinidad...

I forgot how beautifully Ronald fought that fight, and how much better he looked back then. I wish that Winky fought Bernard that fought Trinidad. Trinidad had a lot more fought movement (not as much as when he was younger), but he also looked in shape (not fat like he has), and his jab is the most beautiful punch in the world, perfect technique, nearly impossible to counter, perfect range/timing, just beautiful to watch.

One of the best performances ever imo, one of my favorite fights ever too simply because Winky is my favorite. All the superlatives in the world can't describe him on that night.

Its funny, Wright is one of the few guys I think would give Robinson a hell of time, Wright when he got in his prime was so hard to hit, so hard to hurt, but he always landed that jab, and the jab was something I noticed a few guys land (Lamotta in particular) on Robinson who kept his left hand down and didn't particularly care about defense. However Wright's stiff jab, along with his great defensive skilles and southpaw style, would have given a jabber/combination thrower like Robinson a hell of a fight.

What made Wright'serformance posible was that he was strong and could take Trinidad's power. At one point though he was going to knockdown or KO Trinidad-that's how powerfulhis jab/punches were.

Winky was very good in that fight and the 1st Mosley fight but he struggled when he fought bigger guys like Hop and Taylor just as smaller guys struggled when they moved up to fight him .

I don't think he really struggled that much with Taylor considering how good Taylor is, I think Taylor is very underrated, and he is a decent counter puncher, and Emmanuel hadn't totally ruined his style yet. Against Hopkins to, who ever looks good against Hopkins? That fight was razor close, which to me is a good showing.

The only time Wright struggled with Taylor was the times in which he was flatfooted, when he was moving his feet he was near unbeatable. But Winky in recent years has not been able to move his feet for 12 rounds at a time since that performance against Trinidad.

Still a great fighter but Trinidad was definitely his peak performance imo.

Yah, Wright - Trinidad was sweet. I recall after the fight, some pundit saying Winky's jab turned Trinidad into a human bobble-head doll.
