Currently, all four major sanctioning bodies – the WBA, WBC, WBO and the IBF – use the same rule, that if a fighter holds a belt in another organization, he isn’t ranked in theirs.

The only exception is when a fighter wins a unification bout and holds two or more of the alphabet belts.
