i wouldnt call any of these fights exciting in my eyes but if i had to chose i would say paul#1 cotto#2 santos#3 diaz#4 clottey#5 thats it tony isnt a exciting fighter to me i like skills he doesnt have that he just stands in front of you and gets hit too much he dont block duck and throws wild punches just cause hes a brawler doesnt make his fights exciting![]()
Margarito lacks boxing skill but his style does make for good fights.
Ouch. I think that Pavliks skills have been improving a great deal over the last 2 years to be honest with you.
I must say though that what Tony lacks in textbook boxing skills, he certainly makes up for in drama in his fights. And who needs to be able to block and duck when your chin is made of solid concrete?
pavlik has skills and is improving every fight and if he didnt how do you explain him beating a guy twice who beat hopkins twice he has to have some skill well atleast more than tony
I was only kidding.
Taylor was given the decision because he threw more punches and Hopkins didn't land enough effective punches throughout both fights for the judges liking but in my opinion and also some of the opinions of anothers he deserved the draw in the first fight ( Taylor was given a little gift with one of the judges socrecards giving him the 12th round so it wasn't a draw when everyone clearly knows Hopkins won the 12th.)
As for the second fight he put in a even worse performance and i felt Hopkins won it 115-113. Taylor was real lucky Hopkins was 40 those nights because everyone knows what Hops would of done to Taylor if he was in his prime.
I know but there are so many fights I'd love to see him in just to see how he would fare such as:
ODLH
Mayweather
Cotto rematch
Williams rematch
and so on. He really excites me in the same way Gatti used to a few years ago. Just wish he had a Mickey Ward to have a great trilogy with like Gatti did! (maybe Cotto?)
actually he does have a mickey ward his name is daniel santos![]()
No me neither. What I meant was someone to make him a long lasting name in boxing. For example Gatti will never be remembered for being a great champion but whenever people talk about the greatest fights of all time all 3 Ward fights will come up in the conversation and therefore have cemented both Gatti and Wards names in the boxing history books and deservedly so!
Gatti-Ward 2 and 3 weren't all that great anyway. The 2nd fight was alright, very one-sided. The 3rd fight was good, but I thought Gomez-Arthur and Toney-Jirov were much more deserving of FOTY than that. It was also pretty one-sided, as I thought Ward won 2 rounds, and that was when Gatti broke his hand for one of them, and the other, Gatti won the first 2:55 of the round.
Neither of them would make my top 5 list of Gatti fights or Ward fights.

Margarito isn't he most skilled guy, but he's really not that bad either in terms of skill and defense. Manny Steward was talking about how Tony's defense is better than the public gives him credit for. He had a point, although that's not really saying that much. Margo's defense is leaky, but he did a good job of blocking Cotto's body shots. When I rewatched the fight sober, I realized that he did a better job of slipping the head shots than I had first thought when I watched it drunk. He would often take the first punch of a flurry, but slip the rest, or at least not take it as flush.
There's some things he does very well, for instance how he's at an awkward angle but still knows how to throw a punch that will land effectively. He's a tall, rangy guy but he is very effective on the inside. An uppercut is usually designed to be on the inside, but Margarito knows how to use it effectively from different distances.
