Roy dodged him for forever, and everyone knows it. It must have felt nice to stick it his kisser.

It was a little too much for my liking though. I find it more entertaining to see him throw more punches rather than goofing off every 30 seconds or so. A few times I could understand, he wants to entertain after all. But it became a bit repetitive.
I did want to see him push Jones to the limits and try and stop him, so that might have a bit to do with my frustration at the excessive showboating.![]()
Unless it is a one sided demolishen job, showboating is normally the sign of a bad fight and a frustrated fighter trying to get the crowd into the fight
Thing is when Roy would do it, it came across as a skill and would just amaze you. Bernard as well against Pavlik with his bolo punching. Even Emanuel Augustus had us in fits last night with his showboating because it was comedic...but JC comes across as the most unlikable arrogant prick when he showboats.
But hey, maybe that's just me...
Had it been a cocky American doing it then people wouldn't question it. Cos it's a pasty guy from rainy Wales people are upset.

This signiture is up as ante in a 'sig-bet'. Wanna bet anyone?
I think it really depends if you like the fighter or not.
I'm a massive Calzaghe fan and so thought it was awesome doing to Jones what Jones has done to so many other fighters over the years.
I also don't think Jones is nearly as shot as people say.
It honestly wouldn't suprise me if he got a fight with Hopkins next and won a decision.
Hopkins isn't a relentlessly punching, fast paced, physical fighter in the way Calzaghe is and the slower pace might suit Roy.
Him and Hopkins in a rematch I still really want to see, and I still think Roy would have a chance of winning that fight, although I'd put Hopkins as favourite obviously.
Thanks for the avatar pic by the way, it's a real treat![]()
Yeah Joe gave as good as he got
If you notice Jones was the one who started the taunting . he had Joe down and was winding his punches up ( when he thought he wa sin control ) but in round 2 Joe wasnt gonna let anyone do that to him and when he realised he was far superior to Jones he started oing it back to him but much worse.
Ok he may have over done it but IMO Joe was just showing that he can give Jones every chance yet still make it look easy
I won't criticise what Joe had done... He has his reasons for doing it...
But I like boxers who will just box without these antics... Boxers who will continue to pour everything even if he's ahead in the fight up to the penultimate round... I'm more entertained by boxers who give it all than those ones who showboats...
.
Roy dodged him huh? Which is why it took Joe 44 fights to make his way over to the US to fight the more famous fighters like Hopkins and Jones.
Joe Calzaghe is a good fighter and I am taking nothing away from what he has accomplished but last nights win over Roy was nothing bigger than his win over a shot Chris Eubank.
Surely one of them could have come over to the UK? The Hopkins fight was done only for Hopkins to change his mind and demand double. Not Joe's fault.
Still last nights fight doesn't tell me anything i didn't already know. Would have been a much better fight about 7 years ago.
IMO Joe's in that bracket along with Toney/Hopkins/Jones.
Why should Hopkins or Jones go to England..."oh we have bigger arenas"
Which is why nobody ever wants to go to Madison Square Garden or Cesar's Palace to fight...they all are dying to get into M.E.N or Millenium Stadium to fight Joe Calzaghe infront of a bunch of soccer hooligans.
The US is where the money is, it's more fair than England or Europe, and it's where the best fighters are. Joe never went to 160 or 175 to chase after Roy or Bernard either....both guys were well established at their respective weight classes and fought mandatories. If Joe wanted the fights earlier he could have made them and everyone knows that.
Not big on Showboating in the least but I can not blame Joe for getting caught up in the moment. It was almost like watching a long time best friend get beaten up in your front yard........and I am no fan of Roy .Jones has made highlight reels off of mocking his opponents at times and making it all about himself.Last night, the tide changed, what go's around comes around and Calzaghe put his nose in it.I really hope Jones retires....he did not give me that impression in interview?
