Ok now that Margarito has been knocked out, it's pretty safe to say he no longer can be said to have the best chin in boxing.

So who would you say has the strongest around?

I've put up some possible candidates, but if you feel it's someone else let me know.

Andrade, though Mosley's is not too bad either.

It's Toney. He has one of the greatest chins of all-time.

He's been fighting for 20 years and has fought opponents over a 100 pound range (middleweight all the way up to ~260 pound heavyweights), and has suffered one real knockdown his entire career, against Reggie Johnson.

Both the Jones knockdown and the Peter one were the result of being off balance.

and he has been knocked out with a body shot too

Id say Molsey has the best chin . The only time he went down was after being nutted.

Has he been KO'd by a head shot though? My understanding was that he had only been down from body shots, although correct me if I'm wrong. Put him both him & Calzaghe in there on the basis that I thought there would be some people who considered them to have 'granite' chins even if I don't.

Yeah I was considering Andrade, it was between him & Forbes for me, but Forbes got it because he's never been down & in reality he should be fighting at 135, yet he's taken punches off good punchers all the way up to LMW, so for me he just edges it.

Other close contenders for me would be Mosley, Toney & Duddy.

No it was a head shot i just watched the clip the other day they were saying his eyes were crossed and he was holding his gloves over his face crying after it happened.

TBH the knockouts all looked like bodyshots to me, the 1st catching him on the chest, the 2nd on his gut. I have to say seein some of the shots he caught in that vid actually gives me more admiration for his chin

Out and out it has to be Vitali. He takes the hardest punches of all the mentioned fighters and never looks hurt!

He was lucky that when he went down in round 1 vs Sanders that it wasnt ruled a KD cuz some refs would have given him a count . He was also on very wobbly legs vs Lewis in round 6.

Yeah but like GAME says he has looked wobbly & personally I thought that the Sanders thing was a legit KD. Smaller guys like Forbes & Duddy have also never been down despite often being smaller than their opponents which to me is more impressive than Vitali holding it together, because let's face it, he's a shitload bigger than almost all the guys he's fought.

Also you could argue that guys who've had few legitimate KDs like Andrade (only Yusaf Mack ACTUALLY put him down & he got off the floor to KO him), B-Hop (only ever KD at high altitude), Mosley (possible headbutt) or Toney (flash KDs when unbalanced) all have greater claims to granite chins than Vitali.
