Default What ever happened to...Michael Grant?? and...

Dominick Guinn, and Monte Barrett and Louis Monaco and Darryl "Doin Damage" Wilson and Brian Scott? Courage Tschabalala?

All those guys were better than the current crop, even if Lyle doesn't think so!!

Hey Lyle, good to see youre still here ol buddy, after about 5 years since I last posted!

All those guys got exposed and never quite recovered mentally after their losses. Michael Grant never got over Lewis and them plummeted further after the Mccline loss. Courage who had a tremendous amateur career never got into gear as professional and even changed his name but it still didn't help. Monte is still around and can still beat anyone if he is taken lightly. The rest were just speed bumps in the vast world of boxing. Wilson was okay I guess. Now whatever happened to Calvin Brock, Henry Akinwande, Sultan Ibragimov and Zeljko Mavrovic?

Louis Monaco is a designated ko victim, but he onec iced Kevin McBride who stopped Tyson. Does that mean Louis could ice Tyson

Darryl "Doin Damage" Wilson got damaged too much and I don't think is fighting more. Tim Witherspoon almost killed him.

Brian "Bam Bam" Scott exposed Courage Tschabalala who lacked a tad of Courage as he quit on the stool in his last bout which I saw at Memorial Hall in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Howvever, the fight between Courage and the aforementioned Wilson was a closet classic which featured incredible drama and action and even had Lou Duva hyperventilating.

The overweight Scott got iced by Tommy Morrison and six other tough guys and finished with a 25-7 record. All his losses came by way of KO. Fat guys from Kansas usually can't fight all that well--I don't believe.

Sultan Ibragimov got married awhile back and not sure if he plans to comeback.

Zeljko Mavrovic after losing a title challenge to Lennox Lewis retired and never cameback due to illness.

Calvin Brock retired I think due to eye trouble.

Henry Akinwande was still around in 2008 but suffered 2 loses. He was Ko'd awhile back by Oliver McCall aswell.

hey thanks for all those updates. Yes I remember seeing Wilson vs Tschabalala, it was a real heavyweight slugfest, quite dramatic the way Wilson came back after being clocked with a thunderous overhand right.

I also saw Mavrovic fight quite well against Lewis, remember the announcer mentioning he was vegetarian too.

WEird, the way these names just came and went like the wind, when at one point they had such potential, or so we were told.

Remember Samson Puoha? He was supposed to be so great, untila 40-someting Jesse Boogeyman Ferguson gave him a boxing lesson. Never heard from him since.

    Anyone?

Golata also took a decent sized bit out of Puoha's shoulder. Can't blame him for leaving the scen.

Michael Grant was a physical freak
,very impressive when it was going his way...great piercing jab but really had quite a few soft touches early on but tore through some names and war horses in Dixon,Purity,Butler,Ice Cole and looked awesome in thumping useful David Izon.Had some hic ups with Obed Sullivan and was reserved in with his ex sparring partner Ahmad Abdin up until the end.He really went to hell & back with Golota...getting pole-axed early on and punched silly. He rebounded like a trooper late to put enough doubt into Golotas fragile grey matter....Andrew turning his back, quitting and looking for a change of clean briefs.I think the writing was on the wall as he went into the Lewis fight....and the rest is a wrap.
He seemed to need to be hit to actually get things going and explode on opponents.

If monstrous physics won fights....Monaco would be undefeated.Built like a brick shite house with a head full of corn-rows and winging hooks.Though he was a bit shafted vs.come backing Douglas..had his hurt and KTFO at/on/after the bell and Douglas was fully aware as that 5 minutes ticked by,he milked it Imo.

Darroll Wilson was just the flip of a coin type heavy, sporting a catchy nickname to boot. Will ever be in his debt for his absolute unwrapping and public spanking of very heavily hyped....and spoon fed Jiffy-pop Briggs in dramatic fashion. Now that was classic TV .In turn Tua almost decapitated him 2 or 3 fights later.Dude was solid and very willing...had wars with Tshabalala and freaky puncher Terrance Lewis and Izon.

Tshabalala....inspires more of a smiley than words.... fed on minnows coming up until lumbering Brian scott brought the house down on him and it was really downhill from there.Wilson got him, maskaev and even every ones favorite tire tread journeyman Middleweight /lt heavyweight & sympothy story Lenzie morgan gave his all types of cagey problems and stung him hard.

Michael Grant - After beating Marcus McGee in 2005 he took 2 years off. Since then he's had a mini comeback starting in 2007 winning 4 fights including a NABA title in his last fight.

Calvin Brock - I believe he retired due to eye trouble as WelshDevilRob said. Being from the same state as the "Boxing Banker" I saw him on the local news talking about the recession. Calvin launched a second career as a commercial real estate broker. I doubt we'll be seeing him in the ring anytime soon.

He only ate organically produced food. Glen and Ian said they were gonna give it a try

1st time we Saw Maveric on TV was when he met Clifton Mitchel for the Euro title. It was a 2 round job. I saw Clifton working the doors at Pele Reids last fight

Larry Merchant said Tshabalala would be the next Mike Tyson. Ugh.

Hey Lyle, good to see youre still here ol buddy, after about 5 years since I last posted!
Monte Barrett couldn't beat David Haye a couple months ago and he couldn't beat Joe Mesi 6 years ago, and he got demolished by Wladimir 9 years ago.

Lennox Lewis happened to Michael Grant

Guinn had too many amateur fights and got to the point where he couldn't pull the trigger (though he would have had a shot vs Sam Peter the other week).

I think the division would be more at ease if the people in the "Junior Circuit" (the WBA) actually decided to fight in the REAL heavyweight division...I don't care who you are but if Nicolay Valuev gets his big ol' Missing Link ass beat down in a round or 2 by Wlad or Vitali it would draw some attention.

The problem the heavyweights have is that the guys who are in shape can't punch and the guys who can punch are morbidly obese.....bar the Klitschko's of course

I think Grant is still trying to clear his head from the Lewis massacre, Barrett was never top quality he was a top journeyman at best, ...The others just kind of faded away so to speak,,,,Wilson like others stated took too much damage to stick around the main scene....
