Well this is not some gossip mag that came up with this story. The Associated Press is a reputable news source, and they are going by public records that are filed with the government.
Trust me the IRS doesn't fuk around, and they wouldn't file a lien, unless they felt he didn't pay, or he didn't pay enough, which I think is probably more the case.
And Ellerbee cracks me up, I've never seen a bigger "Yes Man" in all my life. This line cracked me up.
Asked about the liens that had been resolved, Ellerbe said: "We're talking about what's going on right now. I'm sure you might have been two days late paying your rent two, five years ago."
Ummm, they don't file liens if you are only two days late in paying your rent.
And Mayweather probably can move around, as Ellerbee says, because he is probably cooperating with the IRS, unlike Wesley Snipes who was running away from the responsibility, until he finally got caught.
In short, it wouldn't surprise me that he is dumb with his money. It happens, just as Evander Holyfield, and Mike Tyson.
