Damn another one? RIP champ.
Looks quite true, a few websites I found with that mention on google are updating at the moment, perhaps it's not true like the phony reported death of Kimo Leopoldo but there is enough consistency to think it's true at the moment.

This is some bullshit. Not the article but if it's true. This is fucked up.
"Sixty forty I kicks yo' ass, Sixty forty I tears yo' ass up" - Roy Jones
This is getting insane, what has everyone got against boxers?
Vernon seemed like a real classy guy too, involved with charities etc... what a shame.
Rest in peace champ. (Sadly, I'm losing count of how many times I have said that lately.)
I just confirmed that this is true from one of his family members. They said he was shot leaving the gym in ATL and he was on his way home. This shit has really started to get ridiculous with violence in society in general. It's one of the reasons we try to get young kids into the gym to have an outlet. My prayers are with his family and friends. I really don't have anything else to say.

Tragic, Rip Vernon.
OMG ! sad news
RIP Vernon. Classy guy and a classy fighter
What is it with all these deaths. Bad news comes in threes. Alexis Arguello, Thunder Gatti and now Vernon. Another murder too!! Terrible times

He is probably best remembered for his stunning victory over the undefeated best p4p fighter at the time Sugar Shane Mosley.
RIP Vernon Forrest

Please tell me this aint true.
this is getting ridiculous already, i'm seriously starting to get a bit numb to the whole thing honestly, the man still had the tools to be one of the best at 154, and i have said it time and time before, that i thought Forrest could beat Kirkland, now we'll never get to know
RIP Forrest
RIP to a real underrated fighter. He was a 2 weight champ & beat some real quality names, although his two convincing decisions over Mosley are what stick in the mind for most. He seemed to lack the motivation at times to beat the 'weaker' fighters like Mayorga (he won the 2nd fight) or Mora, but still he had a career that was on a similar plane IMO to the likes Kostya Tszyu. He will be sorely missed & one of my personal favourites of this decade, in the way Gatti was to others.
RIP Champ
