Default Great Rematches That Never Happened

I was thinking there have been a whole lot of fights that seemed to demand rematches that for some reason never materialized. I thought we could go over a few and discuss why they never took place.

The first one that comes to mind is DeLaHoya - Trinidad, with such a controversial ending to what was supposed to be one of the biggest fights in decades why did they not do it again??

Chavez - Whitaker, another big fight with a controversial ending, especially after a draw why not do it again and get a winner??

Chavez - Taylor, this one did have a rematch but after that kind of fight you go right into it while its still hot and juicy, this fight would have made millions had it taken place right after the first instead of years later when the drama had died down.

Tyson - Douglas, should have gone down again also, any one who saw that fight without no bias knows that Buster did not just KO Tyson he thoroughly dominated him and out boxed him for most of the fight ( even though the judges scoring it up to the KO seemed to be watching another fight) Buster should have fought Mike again instead of Holyfield.

Theres a couple right off the top of my head, what about you guys, any big fights you guys would have loved to have seen again but never did??

First one that popped into my head as soon as i saw the title was SRL Vs Marvin Hagler. People still argue about the outcome of that one to this day. I personally think the judges got it right very close but W for Leonard.

Shame Hagler retired because Leonard was never as good again after that night and he was probably there for the marvelous one to take!

DLH V Trinidad should have happened within 5 months of the first fight.
I have never fully understood why Hagler took his bat and ball and went home after the Leonard fight, he sulked, he complained, but did nothing about it in the ring with a rematch? Strange decision.
Foreman V Ali, this one puzzles me as Foreman was the huge favourite to win, surely a rematch was discussed or was George mentally scarred by Ali in the rumble?
Chavez V Whitaker is the most obvious, such a poor decision first time around.
    Calzaghe V Hopkins!

Every time i see that fight i think the other guy won LOL they should have done it again right after and besides thinking back now thats no wau for a legend like Hagler to have gone out, he still had so much more to offer the sport if u ask me. Leanord and Hearns should have probably had an instant rematch too it could have gone either way the first time. They should have not waited dam near a decade to do it again.

Marquez vs. Pacquiao III should have happened.
    Khan vs. Prescott
    Hagler vs. SRL
Mosley vs. Oscar III (after the 2nd fight was a robbery)
    Trinidad vs. Oscar

Oscar should have rematched Whitaker & Quartey though.

Whitaker vs. Chavez is the ultimate for me.

Yea I forgot about that one, ODH and Quartey should have definitely happened again, the first one was a classic and even though I haven't seen it in a while I remember scoring it a close one for Quartey.

Hagler-Duran should have happened a 2nd time. First one was close.

All 3 of these have the possibility to still happen. The first 2 especially. Williams will most likely fight Martinez this year and the WBC ordered to Berto-Collazo rematch i think.

I don't see why Whitaker-Chavez really needed a rematch. It wasn't a close fight by any scretch of the imagination no matter what you are looking for, it was a complete robbery and Sweet P got screwed, everyone who followed the sport remotely at the time knew it. There was hardly any two way action in the fight, it was just a boxing lesson. Had the judges not got it so wrong noone would've clamored to see it again. Obviously it would've made sense, but the fact that Don King had that much pull in getting Chavez the gift draw in the first place pretty well ensures he would've made sure Whittaker didn't get the chance to show him up again.

Yeah, I still think that leonard played a very smart game to win in the judges eyes rather than to 'beat' Marvin Hagler.

I think a focused Tyson would have been a favourite to beat a Buster Douglas who had already had his 'one in a million moment'

An Ali-Foreman rematch would have been very interesting, but I'm not sure Ali would have seen it that way.
