Default I watched Brinkley/Steven last night finally after hearing Brinkley/Bute is on...

I give all the props in the world for what Brinkley was able to do that fight and that was a fight that reminds me why I love the sport when so many things remind me of the bad things... A seemingly outgunned Brinkley willing himself through the first 5 rounds to take ove a fight where he was clearly on the short end of the stick with speed and power. I loved watching it and bravo to ESPN for airing that.

I'll say that Brinkley is extrodinarily ordinary as far as skills and power but he's got a heart and will that get him through rough patches.

On the Bute Brinkley front I have one sentence... Bute will end Brinkley's career.

But Brinkley deserves a payday after that showing so I say more power to him.

Bute is going to make Brinkley look 2 times as slow as Stevens did and after Brinkleys "pop"(which is pretty much nonexistant) goes in about round 3 Bute will have no respect for him and batter him to a TKO/KO by round 5.

Yeah it was a great moment for him, Stevens before the fight said "This fight won't last a minute, I'm going to KO him in 50 seconds, he's not in my class"

After the fight, Stevens looked to high five Brinkley and Brinkley just walked away.

Stevens didn't have a plan B and he barely had a plan A which was 'remove head from neck'. Stevens really needs to take some time off and learn fundamentals of movement, the importance of body punching and a much better understanding of range.

But while I agree that Bute will have a field day with Brinkley, he has this win under his belt. A fight in which he was a heavy underdog against a young, strong prospect with highlight reel KOs and didn't just win, he completely mentally devastated him.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Oh, sure. If anything after the beating he takes from Bute at least it'll set up another profitable rematch with Stevens... Brinkley deserves it after ripping off 9 straight win and it would have been 10 if he had held on against Spina. Spina is a club fighter but he sure is strong.

What the hell would he have done to warrant a title shot against Bute? I mean, at least Brinkley has fought for the #2 contender spot in an eliminator... Miranda has done nothing to warrant an IBF title fight. Maybe WBO... I think he's ranked like 6 or something by the WBO. That's the only belt not in the Super Six after the IBF that Bute holds. Andre Ward made him look silly as would Bute. Bute is fast, crafty and uses movement. Sound familiar?...

I never thought Brinkley would make Stevens looked so bad but I knew Stevens was not a good professional fighter and he doesn't look to want to be. Curtis Stevens is better suited for the amateurs and somehow he just doesn't get that he has to work on many things. He just refuses to learn how to box. He has a very nice jab and hardly uses it. He pulls away a lot when he thows his left hook. His head movement is minimal and when he finally gets inside he doesn't capitalize by throwing numerous body punches. Not to mention that his body type is at a disadvantage for a long fight, 10-12 rounds. Also Stevens movement coming in is too predictable. Shawn Porter is a short muscular fighter who knows what he is. He even went down 2 weight classes to compensate. Stevens should take note. But back to Brinkley. Brinkley does deserve a payday but Bute will have served Brinkley like a lesser sparring partner. He has nothing to match Bute in any department. But I do appreciate that Brinkley is going to get his payday.
