Don't think any guy is wrong really... you can jab from a variety of ranges. You can step into range as you throw like Chris did... or you can already be in range and throw...

Officially a jab is any non power punch thrown in a straight fashion....distance is not a requirement just tradition....why trhow it close? Not really effective but I have known fighters to do it close to just annoy an oppoent and lull them enough to let loose and big shot....

Lennox actually had a great jab but he more often then not used it as a range finder or just a set up he followed with big rights it was never his primary weapon....Though the timnes he did use it he had his best performances...To get great jab lessons from a HW I would look to Larry Holmes or even Gerry Cooney
