    Default Losing your hair?

As a forum with mostly male members how do you personally feel about going bald?

No doubt somebody will come along and accuse me of vanity but I'm seriously dreading the day. I'm 31 now and I have already receded a little but thankfully I can disguise it somewhat. That said when the day comes when I can no longer hide it I'll be gutted.

My girlfriend is 24 and a hairdresser so it's always in the back of my mind when she cuts it. What she thinking?

Am I being a pussy or does this bother anyone else? Anyone on here already bald and it doesn't bother them?

No, I agree with you completely. This has always been one of my biggest fears in life. I think women worry about their waistlines and men typically worry about their hairline. I worry because my Dad started getting a bit thin on top once he hit 30 and my grandfather on my Mother's side has thin hair, but I have been lucky so far. My hair has always been thick and still is. The hairline is as it has always been. My only concern has been the emergence of the odd white hair, but I do worry that at some point father time might catch me up. I have a youthful face and happen to think that a bald head would look extremely unusual on me. Hopefully it never happens.

Im losing mine, inevitable really, my dad was balb, elder brothers going bald in 20's, Im 34 now and its going thin.

I dont want to be bald so before it gets too bad Im going to try maybe the German caffeine shampoo or some regain mouse

If it doesnt work I'll rock the number 1 all over with no fear. And maybe get one of those 'its not a bald patch, its a solar panel for a sex machine' T's
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but doesn't get you anywhere.

What can you do about it? Toupee? Plugs? Those are worse than going bald IMO.....the best is if you have the head for it "Fire it before it quits on you"

Got a couple of friends my age (34 ) that have the Jim Dale / Alan Shearer look already, thankfully I have a good head of hair, well if i let it grow that is. Last year i decided to shave my head due to a spot of alapecha ( stress related ), that did clear up after a few months, but i liked the shaved look and kept it that way since. I keep urging my mates to shave their heads but they wont have it.
My brother, who is 2yrs older, has been getting more and more grey hairs recently, so he also decided to have the lot off and loves it now!!

Lot to be said for the shaven look

Nameless would I correct in guessing you yourself have really long shoulder length hair like an Eastern European student?

It's always been the mental image I've had of you...

I remember 12 or 13 years ago when Viagra came out and was hailed as a wonder drug to cure ED which has plagued many men since the dawn of time. Now in a few years this wonder drug may be able to cure a man of baldness.

2 things guys don't want, losing hair and losing the ability to get it up.

I totally get what you're saying, wish I could be so philosophical about it. As quite a slim bloke I know the Stevey Bull look isn't for me - called the 'Bully Cut' round by me. Basically shaved off.

Also for some smug reason I find comfort in seeing people with less hair than me. Old friends, Wayne Rooney, Prince Williams etc etc

But if they can't afford to fix it then I'm fucked!

Exactly, if you are too slim it just doesn't look right. It can look pretty good on well set men. Michael Stipe is the only skinny guy I can think of that carries off the bald look well. You look at people like Rooney and Prince William and they are relatively muscular, strong looking men. Imagine a bald Jarvis Cocker and that's how I would look. Damn weird!

I'm 29 and no receding hairline or thinning hair, but have kept a shaven military look for the past 2 years or so. I guess just less maintenance as 1 of the reasons, plus I did have shoulder length hair for like 13 or 14 years so felt like a change.

I mean Beckham 1 of your cultural icons looked decent rocking a shaved head. Nothing wrong with it, just embrace it!

But if you're head is starting to look like Prince William might as well just cut off everything.

What's wrong with a shave look? Well if you don't want that then I guess pony up the 5k to 10k having hair transplants.

I'm thinning now at 38 . Started a couple of years ago.

yes we'd all love a full head of hair but 1 in 3 of us will be bald in 30s and 1 in 2 from 50 +. Fact.

Did used to bother me a lot but to be honest after starting blood pressure medication end of last year, worrying about lumps here and there and panicking at every chest pain that might just be NOT indigestion I think only having a slap head to worry about would be a fucking luxury ! Guy I work with lost his leg last year due to a DVT and has only just returned after 8 months off work - now thats a worry.

I would never try to do anything about it with all this shit that the celebs get done.

I still have other things to be thankful for eg massive cock, and as long as everything crucial in my body works then I will take that thanks.

Mate who lost his hair in 20s said best thing to happen is for it to just go completely - then you don't have any more hair loss to worry about. Kind of made sense really !

Does put it into perspective doesnt it. I'd like to see if anything over the counter works so I could have long...ish hair just once more, I think I'd be satisfied with that and then let nature take its course once more. Im not a cricketer so I wouldnt be going to advanced hair studios or owt.

    Good post.

They say you spend your 30's and beyond paying for what you did to your body in your 20's and in that light hair shouldn't be such a big concern. I would still look a right old odd ball if I was bald, but of course there are far bigger things to worry about.
