I think sweatpea would have outpointed floyd mayweather he was that good
Love it. The style.
No way, Pernell Whitaker's defense was artistic, but Floyd Mayweather's defense was far more reliable. He gets/got hit far less than Pernell Whitaker. And it's not just about who's more skilled which isn't Whitaker. Floyd would be better conditioned, and he's a better athlete.
Pernell was great.
SweetPea vs PBF would have been a classic chest match
Answer this, can Pernell be a great chief trainer?
Is there any great former fighters that became great/good trainers?
Someome make this a new thread!!!![]()

Original & Best: The Sugar Man
That's because Pernell Whitaker took more risks, and threw alot more punches than Floyd Mayweather Jr.
A southpaw who's incredibly quick/awkward, who is also a great defensive fighter with a good jab and underrated toughness. Is one of the worst style match up's for Floyd Mayweather Jr.
And he has had a few problem's vs Southpaws, DeMarcus Corley got through Floyd Mayweather's shoulder roll defence and even stunned him as did Zab Judah.
Judah had power that Whitaker didn't, and Mayweather was trying to outfight Corley, and he came back right after that and gave it to Demarcus. Whitaker would be tough for Floyd, but he isn't as good as Floyd. He's just outgunned in comparison. He looked flashier, but so did a lot of other guys like RJJ, and Benitez who got hit more than him. Floyd doesn't throw a lot of punches, but he throws exlusively meaningful punches, I think his work rate is underrated and misunderstood by most people. Because he throws everything so sharp and crisply it equates more in comparison to guys who throw 60-70 punches, but only half of them are meaningful or meant to land.

Oh how it would be amazing to have a Pernell Whitaker in every era at his peak... One of my favorite fighters... Incredibly exciting for one of the slickest defensive fighters that will probably ever get in the ring..

Was he ever beaten in his prime for real?
He was not a puncher but his body work was key to getting the stoppages and his defence was artistic
