He's a longtime broadcaster for Shotime Network in the US who has been battling cancer..Recently called his last event for the network (Tyson always fought on Shotime)Originally Posted by Master

Nick Charles was co-host of Sports Tonight on CNN from 1980 to some time in the mid to late 90s (along with co-host Fred Hickman). It beat ESPN's sportscenter for some of that time and still competed pretty strong even after ESPN became a behemoth. He was the blow by blow guy for Shobox for about 10 years.
He is dying of cancer. He and Tyson have been friends for years.

Charles is well respected in sports broadcast journalism and as a boxing announcer. Most within the boxing community that consider him a friend say he is professional and very nice.
