    Default Volunteering?

    Does anyone do any volunteering?

I was supposed to do some this Sunday towards a missing persons charity but since I'd have to travel by bus I can't do it.

Been looking to get involved with some volunteer work but I'm suffering from wanting to save the world syndrome and not feeling strong enough to do it.

I thought about animal work but I'd want to beat to death scumbags who hurt them.
I've thought about giving some time towards manning phone lines towards victims of domestic violence, had some experience, but again you'd be there just to listen, not give advice.

    So hard.

I've donated several days to the Dogs trust. I'd like to do something a bit more regular.

not sure volunteering to touch old people is exactly what I was suggesting or indeed that those running such a business just lets people wander in off the streets and wash the arses of the residents.

I am a management committee member for Home Start that support children under 5 years of age and I also am a custody visitor going to police cells making sure people in custody have not been beaten by the police. It is good on the CV and gives you good experience and skills. Also very rewarding.

It may come as a bit of a surprise but I've done my fair share of volunteering: Habitat for Humanity, United Way, and some other stuff.

Its best to give of your own free will and truly help someone

You could find a young girl whos without a family and become her mentor. I think theres a big brother big sister organization.

Even offer your professional services and advice to a fitting girl who cant afford them.

Go to a local soup kitchen and help a few times there, scope the place out and you'll find her/him there.
