Ortiz vs Mayweather is definitely the fight Ortiz should have went for. No shame in that. But IMO, fighters that lose their title or a title shot, should not be able to fight for a title in their very next fight. Don't get me wrong, it's great for Berto, that he can get a shot at another title and back in contentions for another major fight. Maybe a Ortiz part 2 whether Ortiz win or lose. Or even a Mayweather fight.

No way Berto should be fighting for a title. Unfortunately that's how the boxing world is right now. If you are willing to pay a sanctioning fee, you too can fight for a belt. We all know the belts don't mean anything, too bad the boxers don't.

belts are a stepping stone or ploy for a major payday.
Some rules simply needs to change. And IMO, this is one of them.
