Wow. I saw him fight for the first time last night and I was blown away by how talented he is. If there's fighters like him coming through then boxing is in a good place if u ask me. He's surely a future star of the sport.

Pleased to make your acquaintance
Yeah, I was talking about him with friends yesterday and kept calling him Gary Stark Jr.
It took me a while to figure out why they were snickering.
I think its time for him to step up. 17 pro fights and a lot of amateur experience. Maybe a FNF main event against a solid guy, or even a boxing after dark co-feature. I'm not sure who, maybe somebody like Miguel Roman.
First time I'd seen him last night and I was very impressed. I did think the opponent was made to measure for him though. An aggressive guy who stood right in front of him, but had absolutely no power in his punches. Easy to look good against someone like that if you have Russell's talent.
He clearly needs to step up. I'd like to see how he handles himself against a more elusive boxer who fights off the back foot. Last night Russell could just stand there flat footed and tee off on the guy. It would be interesting to see if he can put the same kind of powerful precision combination punches together against someone he has to chase down.
Definitely one to watch though - some of his combinations were amazing.
At one point he threw a 12 punch combo that was reminiscent of RJJ in his prime...![]()
I didn't know much about him but what I saw quite impressed me... perhaps the fastest pair of hands at the moment or at least, one of them. I very liked his combos too, very fluid, diversified and hitting from every angles. He's still young though, I wouldn't move him too fast, I'd just go still graually in matter of opposition in order to make sure to not burn him prematuredly.

That's the way it is, not the way it ends
I'm not saying move him too fast but he's had 17 fights and a lot of amateur experience, he's not raw like a Deontay Wilder. Miguel Roman was just a thought but its a step up and a fight he should be able to win if he's as good as he looks. A step up but not a gigantic step up considering his ability. No more 9-1 guys who hadn't fought anybody at all.
He's good, but I worry about his power, He definitely has some of hte quickest hands and reflexes in boxing, but he has to punch through more on his punches.
